Ok well after my last quote of 500$ for new fabric upholstery job on fiero seats I decided to look around at racing seats as an option..
i found some nice ones for 250$ for the set but want to make sure they will fit - does anyone know the actual dimensions of the height and width of the bottom and the shoulders that will fit in the fiero? Seriously I tried searching around and couldn;t find what I was looking for.
I searched technical, general, archive technical, archive general for racing seats, sport seats, seat dimesnsions, seat size.. nobody said how wide the should area could be that I could find
Corbeau GTS II seats are 20.5" wide, but I believe you will lose 1" of head room with them. I found a place that even sells seat tracks to go on the Corbeau seats for the Fiero, but the link is at home. I can post it later if you want. The Corbeau seats are about $640 US for the pair plus the cost of the seat tracks.

see if I wanted to spend that much money i'd just get my seats redone I'm not a huge fan of racing seats, just looking at them as an afordable alternative for the sets that are uner 300$ shipped

Thanx for the info...Those were the ones I was thinking of.
Kohburn..If you don't want racing seats, why don't you look for some Firebird seats, 3'rd gen or 4'th gen. I believe that if they don't just bolt in, the tracks can be changed, plus you should be able to get them pretty cheap.
Kohburn, You asked for info on the seats when you replyed to this back in Feb??????? your mind is wandering.............
and still nobody stated how wide the shoulders of their seats were that could recline all the way.. I'm 6'4" and have my fiero seat against the back wall.

wow a big boy huh. what if you measured the space between the console and the seatbelt hanger.?
Also I think that the seat rails will have to be "worked" just to adapt the racing seats in ( I may be wrong) but maybe you could gain some leg room that way as well?
I hear the 2002 firebird seats are very nice and cloth and fit very well in our cars.
thanks for the help revin - I'm pretty sure i'll be adapting integra seats to my car now - i can get a set for as little as 60$ in cloth and 200$ for leather
I'm partial to the Firebird seats, having had one for 12 years, but those Integra seats look nice. The cloth Firebird seats should be cheaper than $250...You can buy the leather ones for that. Try www.thirdgen.org for seats. Try to get someone swapping in the leather 4'th gen seats. Otherwise the Integras do look sharp.
6'4"...Geez it's a tight fit for me at 6'. You must be "bendy".

lol - yeah it does look like i'm folding down into the car when I get in - but once it the fiero is one of the most comfortable vehicles i've ever been in - thats a major reason I love them so much
i run with my seats all the way back against the firewall too. i am going to get some seats and would also like to know what racing style seat will go all the way back. the corbeau forza is my other option. actually since the seat is all the way back anyways, i dont need a seat that reclines.
i had a friend drive my car last summer. he was 6'7'! that was fun to watch. had to pop the sunroof for a little extra clearance.
they came out great - really comfortable.. I had to drill out a couple rivets to remove the integra seats rails - make some little 4"x16"x1/8" adaptor plates to mount the fiero seat rails and then bolted it all together - they don't like to slide very much but thats probably just me misaligning the rails a tad.. and how often do you move the seats in a fiero anyways?
the ONLY downfall is losing about an inch or so of headroom - but I also gained about 2+ inches of under seat space that i'm thinking about how to utilize - maybe some under seat speakers or some bass shakers on the seat itself
it should be available for people to see in person at carlisle in 3 weeks

the only way i can make clearer pics id by brightening the picture and reducing contrast which will grey out the pics - but then you could see the seats :edit - i updated some of the pics after tweaking

Cool topic, however since we are on the topic of seats, has anyone succcessfully utitilzed Corvette seats? I can gety a pair of '89-'94 Sport lumbar adjsuted seats and thought that I can get an answer over thier adaptability before I actually consider getting them. Anybody with some ideas on Corvette seats?
Koburn...It does look good. I was more concerned about raised driving position due to my dash swap. I'm not sure how close to the steering wheel that would put my legs.
Paul...Your seats look good too. Which ones did you get? How is the quality?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33701&item=7971557980&rd=1 These are the ones I installed. I combined them with a 3 point racing harness and you don't get into this car anymore, you strap it on! They are not the most comfotable seats by a long shot and I'll find out next weekend when I go on the Poker run in Orlando how they feel on a long ride. I just finished installing them yesterday so I haven't had a lot of time with them but my 1st impressions of them are positive. I'm 6' 175lbs and you do not move around in these seats at all in the corners. So far they give me a much better feel on how the car is handling. I didn't expect that but it's a nice feeling, I feel much more in control of the car in a high speed turn. (45mph turn doing 80mph)
