no pictures of the process, my camera wasnt available.
but, yeh, 87 trans am vents molded into the fender.
i picked up an extra set of fenders from pick a part for 70 bucks and the vents for 40.
as for materials, i purched a dremel for the task, went through about 8 cutting wheels.
used a plastic repair kit so it would give me some flex and not crack. the primer was a filler primer, thicker then normal primer and helped fill any wee nicks.
after the holes were cut and the vents were bonded i started with 250 grit to get the shape then finished with 400.
primed the area.. found imperfections sanded down to base and refilled, sanded, primed again. sanded. primed again.. sanded.. fnished with 800.. now awaiting paint. any ideas how much that will set me back from a shop?
while i was at it i shaved the antenna hole.
anyhoo, enjoy the pics

LOL.... see what you started Ski... Ive done two sets already. MiZer..did you mold them in from the rear of the fender?
LOL Ya I wonder how many Fieros have my Trans Am vents by now. Maybe we could start of thread of them. Seriously, MiZer looks like you did a nice job on them. Glad to see you did the my antenna shave too. Makes sense since you had the fender off anyway. Your car will look so much smoother without it. What did you do for another antenna?
Thanks for your suggestions in the chat ski! =] antenna? none, i dont lisen to the radio.. i may add one at a later date tho. or i may copy your in-fender antenna.. =p
fiero67, i molded them in flush with the fender, cut the hole and trimmed the vent to fit flush, in my mind it would provide a smoother transision for the vent.
L44_87GT, none. just like the origional vents on the trans am, looks only. but with a bit of creative ducting, im sure i could use them to vent preasure from the rad, or wheelwell, or cool the breaks.

I was going to originally duct my radiator area through hoses to the vents to relieve the headlight lifting problem. In the middle of this project I did my hood which vented the radiator even better so on mine it just for looks. At least for now.
Not that I am trying to capitalize on someone else, but here are some scoops. Had these listed for a couple of days now. Need money for my car and had these laying around. Or just head to your local yard.
Edit: Try this.

Excellent looking fenders fiero67, I am anxious to see how the smooth look works out. Let me post a pic of my fenders that started all this. Functional or not I think the Fiero should of had this touch from the factory. (As well as factory rear quarter vents)

There should be one in the front nose also...A front one to let in cool air, and that rear one to let out the hot brake heat. How is cool air gonna get into a scoop from behind? Specially when the car is moving forwards and not backwards.

I agree skitime, the factory should have created this look... they look stock after we molded them in. The shaved look is alot of work, I didnt realize that. Unfortunately, he headed home for school and that Fiero wont be worked on until spring. Its one of those Father/Son projects...He promised me that everythign will be functional !!!
MiZer, I molded mine in at that location, because when I set the fender on...if it were lower, it took away from the look I was shooting for. Not to mention, I angled the edges where the trim and GX fits on. The green on my sons Fiero is a highlight, there wont be much green on it. matte black will be the color of the rest of the car. When he gets back this spring, we are making a one off body kit for it..... ewwww....sounds like fun. Great job on yours too !

Second gen scoops would mean you pulled them from a 70-81 f-body.Those above the larger scoop came on 1982-84 trans ams.In 1985-90 they used a rocker ground fx which covered more of the fender hence the reason for the "smaller scoop".

Did that obnoxious Canadian Tire guy and his fat wife loan you his Mastercraft 'all-in-one' Dremel type tool?
Nice job by the way.
hahah I hate those commercials soooo much when i worked at Crappy tire a few years ago i would walk around and shut the tvs off even today if im shopping in there i will tunr them off
That came off my brothers chevelle and when he died, I got it... too small for the Fiero, LOL... but it makes people think and wonder when they come into my garage. ISnt it cool though. John
