My wife just can't seem to understand putting Mr. Mike's Seat covers (about 500 with speaker holes and the console saddle) in a car that I paid $650 for. What she doesn't understand, is how much FUN I get out of just driving this car, not to mention the fact that I've put 40,000+ miles on it in two years including a trip to the 20th (from Cincinnati) and also to Atlanta.

Anybody else?

My wife used to think the same way. Now she is the one to tell me " just do it " After a few rides and my going to car show's, she understands, that I could be spending all my money, and time on a lot worse things. So they do get better with age.!

Mine is the same way. When she sees me doing something thats Fiero related, she always asks what I am up to. My standard answer is, "You don't wanna know" (because if she did, she would just complain about it).

The saying used to be "Better to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission", but I don't even bother to do that anymore. Now it has become, "It's a Fiero thing, you wouldn't understand." And thats the end of that

Her opinion, not her , is worthless. It is a Fiero thing.
My long time gal, after two Fieros, got any and every jab in on how I did not need another one. I told her I did not need the first one.
Now that I got the 87 GT any and every jab is how I should be taking better care of it.
Women just think they know what theyare talking about (LOOK OUT) whether they do or they don't.

Yea, well try having the whole City against you.........Everyone i meet thinks im an idiot for owning a Fiero in Alaska.(or maybe it's for other reasons.....) I guess they think its like owning a snowmachine in the desert. I drive it all winter long, and im passing everything.(not becouse it's fast, but becouse people think you gotta drive 20 mph just becouse there's 4 foot of snow on the roads!) It does better in the snow then most stuff i driven! (the nose DOES tend to plow a little snow at speeds)

My wife just thinks all them years of testing bongs for air leaks(hey,it's legit) caused Drain Bamage. (occupational hazard)
I might tend to agree, if i could remember what the hell she was talking about!

"In my yellow Fiero, It's preatty easy being cheezy"

Edited for puntuation

I employ the messy tactic. It works fairly well.

I think It's time to resurrect my old sig line- "It's a Fiero thing. Heck, even I don't understand."

My wife owned a 1985 GT before we met, but she still doesn't like the cars. She supports me, though. As long as I spend money on her horse hobby, I get to spend money on mine. If there's any left...

Keep the car, trade her in for a new model.

Seriously, unless you're spending money on the car instead of bills, she's got little reason to gripe. It's a hobby... do you spend $?000 to go elk hunting in Montana... spend many long nights and mucho cash at the bar... I'm assuming you don't. You enjoy your Fiero hobby/affliction, try to explain that to her.

And if that doesn't work... counter attack Ask her why she needs a pair of shoes for every outfit and how much does she spend on makeup?

my wife is pretty understanding, as long as i spend most of the money repairing the things around the house, she doesn't complain about the fiero, but then again i haven't had the time or money to work on my 86

If and when possible, make her think it was her idea.
If she thus and thats but is always talking about safety stress the safety aspects.
When she thinks it's for her or her idea motivated you it is a little easier.

Not always possible but effective. How does it go? Forgiveness is easier than permission. Did'nt say easy. Easier.

My wife doesn't complain too much...anymore. She really used to hate the car when I first bought it, but I think that's because it took a lot of my time to repair all the things the previous owner didn't.

She *does* still roll her eyes when the word "Fiero" comes out of my mouth

I just bought the wife her new car (A big SUV) and I traded my old truck in for it..... Then I needed a car so I bought the 1988 formula......

Even with all the cash I am spending on it, it is still cheaper then her SUV. That is why the car is called IZA TOY and my motorcycle is called XSCASH.

Wonder what she will call her SUV NOT PAID 4 ? LOL

She does not drive my formual and I do not drive the SUV (life is good)

Most women dont understand cars so Im just gonna buy the car I want and all the stuff for it before I get married! The only trouble I could run into is if she wants me to get rid of it. Then again could always use the ebay trick that has been talked about on the form (Let the reserve start @ $15,000!).

I don't understand why almost every guy marries a women, who in the end will always end up being another mother.
I will never understand these pointless relationships people have where they have a misguided image that they want to be with this one person for the rest of their lives.
Three words.. WASTE OF MONEY .. not to mention the ammount of stress that must come from it. I would rather put my money into a Fiero.

I'm divorced and my mother lives with me, I hear it all the time I get a package of parts in the mail. She says " I don't know what you see in those cars ", I just retreat to my garage and start putting the new part on. The funny thing is that I take my ex-wife we me and the kids to Fiero/Pontiac gatherings and shows and she thinks it's cool and never mentions anything about the time/money I spend on my cars. I have a second fiero that I have parked at a friends house, I'm waiting for the right time to sneak it in my garage (You think mom will notice?)

My now ex-girlfriend was always telling me that i need to get my 87 GT back on the road. She liked the car a little, but she mostly liked to RIDE in the car. she was a keeper, now all i have to do is get her to go back out with me and all will be well.
also, i've told myself, i will get the car done BEFORE i get married, so i don't have to listen to a woman complain about it.

Ive always had a car thing. I was married once and it didnt work out with the cars. Im divorced now and kept the cars. I have one 'sorta steady' thing, but shes not interested in cars either.........mostly clothes. If she dont want to go somewhere, I go alone. No matter how pizzed off she gets, a new outfit always appeases her. I keep a few new ones hidden for backup in my closet for emergencies.....

Hate to admit this, but I used to think that way too.
My son kept putting money into his GT.
I kept hassling him about wasting his money on " A Plastic Pig"
Thank God he didn't listen. In fact, he did just the opposite....He bought me my first Fiero.
I guess until you actually own one, you can't appreciate how much fun they can be.

But yeh...Im in the same boat. Wife does not like them.

Try having 6 Fieros at one time at your house. It isn't much fun! So I know how you feel with the wife. I'm gonna have to have a Sale to get rid of half of them! Which is what she want's right now!! It's so hard to let them go.
