I got a chuckle out of this, actually that phone is more modern than both the donor Fiero and the 308 that the rebody is imitating. Still I'm sure your car looks better without it.

The black front and rear bumpers are standard for all Ferrari 308s. On 328s (308 replacement) the bumpers are body color and a lot smaller, blended into the body to hide it. On mine I left the bumpers as on a 308, but painted them body color. Mine is a minor custom, so i felt ok with making little changes. Check out my flush headlites. Park and turn lites on real ones are in the front bumper, not under it as most kits. I think Rodney makes the correct front bumper and lites. Lots of people tell you that the back up lites are located in the center of the amber tail lite. That is true only for US models. Euro spec models either have no back up lites at all or there under the bumper and just look like front fog lites.
I agree, nice job Wholf. I didnt make my chassis as pretty though, I drive the crap out of mine. 100K in about 6 years. I dont even remember the last time I just sprayed it off underneath. I let the rain do that

From what I understand, Rodney no longer makes these bumpers. Maybe if the job was right he would but I do know Pat from (fibersmith.com) is making 3 or 4 different style bumpers now. one even like rodneys with the real signals. WHICH ARE A PITA to find!!! I need one pass side assy. Correct me if I'm wrong Rodney.. Killer looking cars showing up here. For more you can search and hunt for hours on http://www.kitcar.ca L8

My7Fieros, Thank you for the compliments, considering the rutt I have been in here lately, the compliments come well appreciated.
joeschmotty, The rear bumper is standard with the kit I purchased. You might be able to contact Pat Kalsmith and see if he can sell you one if that is what you are wanting. You did not say wether or not it was for a 308/328 kit, so I am assuming it is for one or the other.
Today a group of us down here went and visited an individual that is doing a 355 kit with an SBC in it. He wanted a ride in my 308 since he has never driven his since his project started. Will-Martin took a couple of short videos and you can check them out at the below listed sites. Since I have only been behind the wheel and have gotten use to the car, it was surprising to see how fast my car can disappear. Any way thanks for the compliments, and I hope to see all of you at WheatStock with a fresh coat of black paint... If you are looking for the turn signal lenses that fit the 308 rebody bumpers you can go to http://ferrari.jbrianriley.com/ and purchase them for $150.00 a pair.

I will be offering the 308 Euro front bumpers again soon. The biggest reason I stopped making them was the 308 directional assemblies were almost all gone from Ferrari. I have found a few suppliers of aftermarket lenses and I am having the directional body made out of billet aluminum. So I should have a never ending supply of directional assemblies now. I also used to make the aluminum grills all by hand. They were a terribly amount of work to make and if you know me I make things to perfection. I am now having the aluminum grill pieces laser cut which will make the grills fairly easy to make now. I also finally devised a welding jig for the aluminum grills. Having them welded and keeping them aligned in the past was very hard. I am going to make these front bumper kits again only because I was the one that created this bumper as I needed it for my Mera and I have a lot of pride in it. I spend a lot of time years ago developing this. Considering the amount of effort and the costs of doing this again it is foolish but it is my creation and I want to make more as I am proud of them. They make a night and day difference in the look of a 308 rebody.

Some pictures of my 308 Euro front bumper. Hard to get a good picture as the bumper is black and the background behind the bumper is also black. If you have ever seen a real 308 with the USA bumper you will know the USA bumpers are very large and bulky to make the 5 MPH bumper requirements on US cars. If you have ever seen a Euro 308 Ferrari with the Euro front bumper you would know that the Euro 308 front bumper is very nice loooking and much smaller.

This one was back on eBay? I bid on it a year ago when it was just a few hours up the road here in CA. I even talked to the owner and told him if the guy didn't come through to call me and I would come buy it.. It looks good in the pictures he had on eBay but he sent me lots of other pictures... It was a project car for sure! The glass was pretty bad on it... I wonder why the new owner has sold it already.
And it's probibly harder to wire than the 3800SC motor into a fiero.
Do a search and you can find my thread on the 240sx interior that I'm in the process of converting to work with the Fiero. Tach is for a 4cyl so I'll have to convert it again when I go 3800.
That's a tough question because everyone has their own idea of what is "best" and that idea is modified heavily based on PRICE.
The BEST kits on the market are either the Mirage (gray car in my pics) or the AD Concepts (Blue car in my pics). Both are upwards of $8500 - $10,000 for a complete kit NOT including the donor or accessories.... BODY ONLY.
The Red Car is an IFG cloner and can be had for under $3500 when you're lucky but $4500 on the average. Very different animal though.
The Mirage and AD cars are multi-pice kits... separated doors from rockers, separate bumpers and trims, etc. The IFG Cloners are ONE-piece kits.... once pice doors and rockers, entire front end is one piece, entire back end is one piece, etc.
The AD Car and Mirage car both BOLT ON to a stock Fiero. No Stretching or serious handling altering screwy chassis changing, while the IFG cloner requires a cut and stretch of the chassis multiplying costs ans assembly time.
That Red IFG car took 11 months to build while the gray Mirage car has only 60 hours in it as of that pic, Including the time to tear down the old car, install custom tubular chassis/suspension parts, pull the motor, strip the interior and mount the body.
The Blue car is a bit easier in that the bolt receivers are glassed into the panels... that car takes about 2 weekends to rough mount.
To get picky.... is a matter of personal choice and prefereance... but BOTH the Mirage and the AD cars have their faults. However, it takes a Ferrari enthusiast to see them. While other kits are more obvious. That's why I think that either the Mirage or AD are the "Best".
Seems like I have a pic of hte Mirage sitting right next to the AD... Ah, here it is...
Note the differences are virtually impossible to detect between the two. Other than the obvious cosmetics of not having the headlamps installed in the Mirage yet and the fact the Mirage has REAL F355 wheels on it too and that it's not painted. Oh, and the reason the Mirage is riding so high in the rear is because the motor is not in the car, so there is no weight keeping those 325 lb rear springs compressed.
As a side note... they are NOT very easy to find. Just because I have a pair of them doesn't mean it didn't take me 3 - 4 years to FIND Them.
Mirage was officially attacked and prosecuted by Ferrari. Perhaps the only manufacturer actually hand delivered a verdict, where all the others got scare mail. AD is so far underground it's not even funny. However, I do know where there are kits to be had. Privately. But there are FEW and they are going fast.
Incidentally... B&B Sypder ripped off AD for their car. Even the pics on their website are actually pics from AD Concpets' facility. Despite the fact they reverse engineered the AD car, the molding and quality of the product is nowhere near the same. Buy at your own risk.
Quality is a HUGE issue. That red car in my pics, is fine for driving... but some local Pennock's members here have seen me RUN straight up the fenders and STAND on the roof of my Mirage car!!! I would NEVER do that to either an IFG cloner or an AD car, or to a real Ferrari for that matter. The Mirage is just THAT MUCH stronger.
You get what you pay for. Which is why I said earlier... best is often modified by price. But remember...
You get what you pay for.
Best.
