By pull you mean pull it outwards towards the driver side door? That doesnt work. I tried.. I actually ended up pulling it all the way out.. But I got it back in.
Pull the stalk towards you, pivoting at the column. You'll hear a click. Release. A blue 'brights' bulb should light up on the dash. Turn them off the same way.

Well I just tried this.. The turn signal stalk does move towards me, but it does not latch and it does not make the lights brighter or display a bright icon..
Electrical problem?

It's possible his high beam switch is shot and not working so when he pulls it towards him it will move but not click and activate the high beams. I've had only one fail me in all these years but this might be a case.
High/low Switch is near Ignition switch. Has a linkage to reach MF level.

This is going to be about the dumbist question anyone here has ever asked.. but here it goes.
How to I turn on my brights? I've pressed every button in the car.. Nothing makes the lights brighter.. I have a 86 fiero gt.
Just wondering and not trying to be a smartass but have you ever driven a car? it's the same for virtually every car around today, except for real old cars with the high beam switch on the floor, left of the brake pedal.
Well on most cars, to tun on the brights, you push the turn signal stalk forward, and it stays there. It took me a good 20 seconds to figure out the Fiero system back when I got the car.

Yes, that is "flash to pass", that feature became widespread in the mid 90's before that most cars we just like the Fiero hi beam stalk.

I like foot dimmers. They work much better. You can change your beam while your turning the steering wheel. Try to do both on a newer car and you can have a wreck.

A friend of mine had a mid 60's chrysler, big boat, like an Imperial or something...had a dimmer switch on the floor and next to that it had another switch just like it. That switch was to change the stations on the AM pushbutton radio. May have been the first SEEK button
My 71 Duster 340 has the floor switch with a bellows pump next to it to spray windshield wash. My 67 Mustang has the light floor switch with a lever next to it that runs the bellows to sprayed washer and made the wipers wipe one time. Also usefully during drizzle to just tap the level to wipe once without spraying. Old technology that works.

Lots of cars had those in the day. My 59 and 60 Lincoln had the channel changer pedal. GM called theirs the 'wonder bar' because it also had a button on the radio face that did same thing.
I still prefer the pedal dimmer, my foot is on the clutch pedal a lot less than the steering wheel. In fact I learned in racing you DONT shift or brake WHILE IN a curve. You do that before or exiting the curve.

Rory,
My old German Capris had floor mist wiper switches as well!

My dads 49 Nash Ambassador had a button the floor to flip through the presets on the radio. I don't know how it worked because the presets were on a mechanical linkage inside the radio
