Is emery cloth the same as crocus cloth? by ly41181

I've been looking for crocus cloth and can't find any or anyone that knows what it is. I've found emery cloth though. Is it the same?

Not equal.

Emery cloth is fine grit, tough sandpaper.

Crocus cloth is burlap, or a clean version of it.

When weted with oil, it can polish things like camshafts, crankshafts, bearings, lobes, etc..

At least that's what Crocus cloth was when I was overhauling airplane motors.

Talk to your local machine shop or tool & die shop.
