i was running through a few threads on electric water pumps for my honda VFR and discovered that the prius uses an electric air conditioning compressor for the AC system.

now, barring some kind of sophisticated controller, couldnt we set this up in the very front of the car and remove the under car hoses? no air conditionoer on the engine at all?

has anyone thought of this? if so, please tell me if u think its a stupid idea or worth further research.

looks like u can get them on ebay for something like 500 bux. kinda pricey, but wouldnt it be sweet?!

nope. been covered before, short of adding 5-6 car batteries to make the same big battery that is in the prius it will not work.

First thing is make sure you have a very large alternator. That thing has to draw a fair amount of current. If you've got any SI alternator or a small CS you'll probably want to upgrade it.

After that you need to find the rest of the details on the system.... Is it even using R134? Is it using an Orifice tube system and otherwise close to the same as the GM system? What lubricant are they using?
