This is all just thinking right now, nothing is concrete since I don`t even have the car yet.
But i`m just curious. Has anyone dropped an LT5 into a Fiero? I might have the chance to get my hands on a low mileage LT5. What`s your thought on this? Would that be a wise engine swap? The car will be my DD BTW. It`s manual.
I don`t really know anything about LT5s.

An LT5 would cost a lot more than an LS6 for about the same performance. If you just wanted to do it, would definitely be cool, but an LS6 is more reasonable.

But its still OHV. DOHC sounds so much cooler in a V8.

The LT5 he is talking about was the ZR-1 (1990-1995) Corvette engine that was designed by lotus (which GM had part ownership at the time) and was assembled by Mercury Marine. My dad has a shop that specializes in corvettes and one of his friends that who does the same thing said the early LT5s have problems with cam walk(about 1990-1992ish). They are great engines and I believe that it was the first production engine to run 180ish mph for 24 hours straight. I've seen a few with 250,000 miles on regular maintanence. I saw one for sale at a corvette show a couple of years ago for $15k, but it had no miles on it and had been removed from a corvette prototype GM destroyed. There are some stroker LT5s putting out 600 hp all motor, but then again they are very pricey. I think I saw that performance cams are about $2k.
