I started building my sound system recently with my center console sub box I'm building. I bought an Alpine MRV-F450 a year or so ago just for this but now I realized it doesn't put out enough for my Pioneer 10". Also, its a 5 channel amp and my speakers are powered enough from the Pioneer deck that hooking an amp to them would be wasting my time, so...now i'm going to sell the alpine and get a mono amp just for the sub and leave the speakers alone. At least for now. You can't find any 5 channel amps anyway. I've done a quick search and I like the Infinity Refernce 311a and the Pioneer GM-7300M. I don't really know much about car audio so could someone look through the specs on these and tell me the pros and cons and what I should be looking for? I've got a Pioneer DEH-3600 head unit and a Pioneer TS-SW2541D 10" sub. The sub is 1000 watt max, 250 watt RMS. The Pioneer one says it is 250w, or 360w bridged. Would it be a good idea to run it bridged? Should I use a compacitor? Like I said, I don't know much about car audio so I need some help. The head is 4x50, 4x22 RMS.

One thing to remember is your sound system is only as good as your speakers. Stereos are usually speced at peak power. If you have some nice speakers a deck stereo will distort/clip before the speakers. I'm running a 600w Sony bridged amp for my sub and an Alpine 4 channel for my seat (4 1/2 JBLs) and dash speakers (Sony 4x10). My system isn't super loud but it does sound good.

I would suggest using your Alpine to push your speakers and the Pioneer for the Sub. A capacitor is a must with 2 amps if you dont have a strong alternator. I run a 3 Farad cap for my amps.

My dash speakers are Kenwoods and the pillar's are Infinity's. I don't remember exactly what they were. But I think they were around 45 - 65 rms. They sound nice and clean without any bass to them but when you turn that up they sound like crap. I think when I get the sub hooked up and can run the speakers cleaner it will all sound good enough for me. I probably will get a small 4 channel amp sometime in the future, just not now. Anyone else have any suggestions for a mono amp?

There's quite a few manufacturers making dedicated mono amps for subwoofer use. Pick the size and price...
