A friend of mine recently totaled his '97 grand prix. He's donating it to a charity as a tax deduction, but he told me I could take whatever I want from it before it goes to the charity (just as long as the timing's right).
So... has anyone actually tried to make grand prix seats fit? From what I've read in the archives, the fiero seat tracks are 19" wide, and from what I've found on the internet, the grand prix seats are 21" wide. They're also fairly high. I was thinking maybe they could be modified to sit lower with some tearing apart and fabricating brackets?
Thanks

the might fit fine with the modified center counsel but im betting the wouldnt with the stock counsel thats twice the width of the one in the pic.
That's really intresting. I was under the impression that the gas tank was under/inside of the stock console? If that's the case, did this guy relocate the gas tank? If he didn't, then I would think the base of that grand prix console is still the same width as the stock one?
The center console has nothing to do with it.So what your saying is he trimmed the chassis sheetmetal and reolacted the gas tank to put those seats in? UMM no. They fit.

At first I agreed with you, but then I wanted to look into that grand prix interior swap in more detail. It's a swap Jim Ashlock is/was doing. There's a really nice write up and discussion of it the final product of it at http://www.kitcar.ca/yabbse/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=1896
Here's one quote from that thread, when someone was asking if it was a fuel cell in the front (spare tire) compartment:
"It is a fuel cell... Jim has "flat floor cut" his chassis to make room for the Grand Prix stuff."
So yeah... I'm starting to think that the grand prix seats are going to be too wide, but I guess I'll find out as long as the timing works out.

are there more pictures of this car with that dash in it, you know such as the "Firebird interior install thread" that other PFFers were more than kind to put up here, I would love to see more threads like that. That dash istall like the bird ones are just insane. S.Williams

Jim Ashlock is not a member here (as far as I know). I brought that info over from Ari's to show the GP interior could also be done. One of the other members there just recently posted that he is going to see Jim's car in the near future and would be posting more pics. As for the seats, I don't think they will fit. I tried putting '88 seats in a '89 Firebird and they were way too wide. Since I believe the Firebird seats fit in the Fiero and the GP seats are still similar, my guess is that the GP seats would be too wide.
