Has anyone ever applied a truck bed style coating in the Fiero trunk and spare tire areas? How does it look? I want to get rid of the stinky fuzzy stained worn out carpet in the back and was kicking the idea around with a friend. I understand it comes in many colors too. I'm thinking about doing the same in the back of my S-10 blazer.

I tossed the carpet from the rear storage area and used the rattle can bed liner. It worked fine and I liked the results. Just be sure to prepare the surfaces correctly so the material will stick.

When my buddy pulled the v6 out of his 88gt, he put his car on a trailer, took it to one of those bedliner shops and they masked it off and covered all the openings and wires etc. and sprayed it to match the color of the car---his car is blue...it looks FANTASTIC....when it gets dirty, he sprays it with a 409 type degreaser and it looks brand new.....it cost around $400 for everything.

I don't know. I'm trying to think if that seems like a rip off or not. 400 is a bit steep for that simple procedure?

It's not a rip off, considering that most companies charge $350 to spray a bedliner and they are flat with no wires sticking out...he used a company with a lifetime warrenty also....RHINO Liners. If it EVER peels or cracks...they redo if free of charge.

The only drawback I see is, if the trunk area is prone to rust away, it will do it from the underside of the trunk area not sprayed with the "goop". Repairing or replacing the metal trunk would become very messy.

I know people have done just that. It does protect the underside from rust attack, but can be a bear to clean the underside because dirt, mud etc seem to stick to it and the dirt doesn't wash off. Any nut or bolt covered with the stuff will also be fun to remove at a later date.

I'll bet that it would help sound proof the interior.

Try Linex linings, they're suppoased to be better than Rhino, and they can do an underbody coating, and they can spray it upto a 1/4" thick, of course you might not want that much on the bottom of the fiero cause of weight, but an 1/8" of coating would be very good, and it would be easier than tearing the car apart to do it with POR 15.
