My balljoint fell apart yesterday and the rim ground the end of the control arm off. Today I phoned around and the control has been discontinued, There aren't any in Canada. I've heard that the Fiero front suspension is based on a chevette, so can I use the front driver's side control arm off of a chevette? If yes what year? I found a used Fiero control arm for $75 but I don't want to pay that much if I don't have too. If any Saskatchewan Fiero owners are reading do you know were I can get a Fiero control arm or a whole parts car? I live in the Saskatoon area.

I lived in saskatoon for all my life until 3 years ago when I moved to edmonton here. I don't think chevette works. You could compare and see if there very similar but I wouldn't bother. Try looking around at all the scrap yards and hopefully there will be a fiero there. And I would say buy that 75$ controll arm. Probably your best bet. Good luck!

I was at a wrecker a couple weeks ago, and saw some guy taking lower control arms off a Fiero in the yard. He was getting them for his Chevette!! I don't personally know if they'd fit, but he said they did. Wouldn't a wrecker would charge you the same for a Chevette control arm anyway???

No a chevette lower control arm will not work on a Fiero.

Other than the 2 control arms look different enough, The chevette LCA does not have the lower mount for the shock.

I have a old chevette sitting here and the control arm looks similar except for not having a mount for a shock. we might try to weld the shock mount to the chevette control arm. there aren't any self serve wrecking yards around here that have fiero's the last one I saw was about 6yrs ago.

The only place you can get ANY parts for fieros is at Amigo's the are out in clavet. I know they charge a arm and a leg but what ya going to do They have about 10 of them in their yard. was that the $75 controll arm? funny thing is they only want $80 for the front frame witch I need This is the only place to get parts.

If that is the case, that would explain why a Fiero LCA fits a Chevette, but not the other way around. I'd still suggest getting the proper one.

Amigo's has one for $40 so I might go get that one the $75 one is at Affiliated (north of saskatoon). My Dad's friend has worked on alot of fiero's and chevette's and say's the LCA are the same except for the shock mount. I'll try the chevette LCA first since it's free.

Are you saying you are driving without a shock?

I'll never buy anything from affiliated unless I have to. I even phoned them and asked if they wanted to match amigos price so I wouldn't have to drive to the other side of the city and they wouldn't. I asked them about a factory cassete deck for a '86 dodge caravelle and they wanted $120 with no warranty. I can buy a new sony cassette deck for $100. How can they stay in business? For now I have no shock on the front drivers side until I can get a Fiero LCA.
