That would depend on the srping codes installed in it. Once you have the codes there is a table around here someplace that will tell you their stiffness reletive the other available sets. I don't think it actually listed the rate tho.

A couple years ago I took some springs into a race shop to have them measured. I brought in the front and rear springs from an '88 Formula (front was ARD, rear was PUC). I also brought in the front and rear springs from an '85 GT. I don't recall the codes for those springs.

The front springs for both cars were 175 lb / in.

The rear spring for the Formula was 100 lb / in.

The rear spring for the '85 GT was too wide to fit in the spring rate checker. I did some measurements with a bathroom scale and a tape measure and it looked to be the same as the '88 rear spring.

That doesn't answer your question directly, but your '86 GT rates are probably pretty close.

Note that these rates are lighter than the rates printed in the MVMA book. I believe my numbers instead of the book because I had the springs measured. You can believe whatever you want.

Check this http://www.cwestco.com/Suspen/Springs.html

Is this what you are looking for ?
Don't know how accurate it is !! And they don't list an 88

Thanks to all that replied. I wanted to get a base idea of what the stock spring rate was so I can make an educated guess at some new coilover springs. I currently have 300# springs all around and the car, though it handles GREAT, beats the living snot out of me around these frost heaved New England roads. So I've decided on 275# fro the front and 250# for the rear. We shall see how that combo works out.

Thanks again!

Rob D.
