I've read quite a bit in the forum of the benefits of running higher compression. I've seen forged pistons that boost the ration to 9.5, but I've never seen high compression hyper-t pistons. Are there such a thing?

You could have them custom built, but I had to buy the ones with a slight dish to them.

The word is actually "hypereutectic" and it's pronounced hi-per-yoo-tek-tik. Hypereutectic pistons are very heat resistant and light. They often handle heat better than a comparably priced forged piston. A much more expensive forged piston would usually be required to match the hypereutectic piston's low weight and good heat properties. As for your question... I dunno.

yes... Keith black, Arias, Weisco make high comp hyper pistons.. but if your gunna spend the money on having custom pistons made just get a good forged unit. you can put boost to a hyper slug but not nitrous. not sure what your looking to do!? you want a road race motor that'll tach to 10,000 a hyper at 10:1 is great.. but you get much higher than that and even spending a mint on a hyper unit you'll still burn a hole in it if you don't have enough fuel. where a good forged piston will be much more resiliant. and really worth the extra money.

for more reasons why not to run Hyper and nitrous go to www.nos.org

don't hyperwatchyoumeacallit pistons contain lots of silicon making them weaker? Just going by what i heard on one of the sunday afternoon hotrod shows.

Hyper pistons are stronger then cast pistons but weaker then forged. They have a higher silicone content in them from what I understand to help them disperse the heat more evenly and to not expand as much as forged pistons do.

Nitrous can be used with Hyper pistons. Lt-1 engines in F-bodies came with Hyper pistons from the Factory and those guys are getting away with running a 125 shot on them

If you are worried about your pistons melting cause they are hyper then get them heat coated. The heat coating reflects the heat which keeps the piston cooler which helps increase the life of the pistons. Contact Hyptnotise(Mike lecompte) as he can get your pistons coated for you at a pretty good price. Or contact some companies that do it like Jet hot or what not. I have shipped my pistons off to Mike to have him heat coat them for me.

There are other ways you can raise your compression other then getting higher compression pistons. This includes shaving the block deck, shaving the heads, and using a thinner head gasket. If you do all three of these I bet you could get your compression up around 9.5-1
