My car is going in for painting very very soon this weekend, and i want to change my side view mirror on the passenger side tonight if i can. It currently has a dent in it, and i have an extra one that is in perfect condition i would like to replace it with. Otherwise i'll be bondoing it smooth again and suffering knowing it's still bent underneath

also, how would i fix a loose passenger side door? Where can i tighten the bolts that hold it in place because i think when the door is close, i can still move it up and down, and it rattles like crazy over bumps...thanx

I swapped side view mirrors once - and this was a non-power mirror. Keep in mind the following is all from (less than perfect) memory :

Remove the door's inside trim panel -leave door open so that you can get to both sides. Think I rolled window all the way up. The mirror is held to the door's outside skin by two (10mm wrench?)nuts. I used a 10mm(?) box end wrench and loosened the nuts until they were almost ready to fall off the studs.

Next, hold the mirror with one hand, and squeeze your other hand into the door so that you can remove the nut - not dropping the nut inside the door is the tricky part. Ditto for the other nut, after you take a deep breath and are ready to go at it again.

Installing the mirror is similar - hold mirror with one hand and carefully start one of the nuts with the other hand. Once it's on, take a deep breath, and put the other nut on. After that, you can kind of relax - the hard part's over with. Tighten both nuts, first by hand and then by wrench. Reinstall door inside panel.

That's what I remember doing. Hope this helps !

If you have manual mirrors, you can leave the door panel in place, but roll the window down. 10mm is right. No big deal unless you drop one of the nuts. Then you have to remove the inner panel.

My guess is your hinge pins/bushings are bad. It would seem unlikely that your hinge bolts are loose. If they are, 3 of them should be visible on the inside of the springs. The 4th one is the b****. You have to remove the trim in the footwell and pull the carpet up. There will be a piece of rubber glued to the inside of the body. (You can feel this with your fingers.) You'll have to pull this off to get to the bolt head. In order for this one to make any difference, the other one (that's easier to get to) would have to be loose too.
