Recent legislation pays hospitals higher Medicare rates for COVID-19 patients and treatment, but there is no evidence of fraudulent reporting.

Well it would be stupid to get caught. Trust me medical institutions cook the books all the time.

I have no doubt most states are keeping record of who gets vaccinated. Hell you go to get the shot and they take all your info and give you a vac card. There, your on record as having been vaccinated. At the very least your state government likely has a record. I got vaccinated while Trump was still in office, so should i blame Trump that my state of Alabama has recorded that i have been vaccinated?

Yes, I expect most states have record of who has been vaccinated. And no, I don't think you should blame Trump any more than than I blame Biden (since I was vaccinated when he was in office). My point was just that I take issue with government officials telling me otherwise when it isn't even a good lie. But I'm sure the feds could call our governor and get these records instantly. So I take issue with the statement "To be clear: government has no database tracking who is vaccinated." I expect lies from most officials, I just wish they'd at least lie better than that.

Also, as I said in my original post, I'm not nearly as concerned that the government knows my vaccination status, as that they insist they have a right to know it. I'm reasonably sure they don't know the last time i got a flu shot, but they also don't seem to be insisting on that. What else about me do they believe they have a right to know?

With regard to the Covid reporting, I can tell you that when my mom died last year, she had been undergoing treatment for heart issues. While in the hospital, she tested positive for Covid. In fact, they wouldn't release her until she had two consecutive negative tests. She did get the consecutive negatives (never showed distinct symptoms, despite her condition). She died about 6 weeks after all that, but clearly not from Covid. And yet we really had to argue with all of the involved health officials because they really wanted to list that as her cause of death.

At this point, I'm fully vaccinated, as is everyone in my considerable extended family. I was glad to see masks largely retired a couple of months ago, although it all seemed rather political and arbitrary to me. Now there's much talk about reinstating some/all the restrictions, which seems equally political and arbitrary. It all has me knowing who I don't trust about it, but not at all sure about who I should.

Some workplaces are insisting, with date and time. However they do allow you to say "Id rather not disclose that", in which case they will treat you as unvaccinated, what that means will likely be different per employer. My guess is the gov could ask those employers. I do wonder when we all need a booster, what the steps will be then.
