For Sale: 1988 Formula with 5-speed manual trans. It's been sitting for over 10 years - maybe 20. Grey interior. AC. No sunroof. Not missing parts. Have title.

First the bad news:

The engine started billowing out white smoke and I shut it right down. I think the seals blew. I can't guarantee it but I'm pretty sure the heads didn't get warped. The windshield is cracked. The keys are locked inside and I can't open the doors or trunk. Or the hood because the latch is inside the interior. I think it had about 140K miles on it. Body damage is minimal - the rear facia has about an 8" crack on the passenger side corner, and just above the driver's side rear wheel there's a small wound. (see pics). Also mice. The mice have been at the interior. The upholstery is pretty rough. Count on replacing all the fabric if you're thinking resto. It's also very dirty inside.

Now for the good news:

The car is pretty much all original and intact. I just had the 5-speed manual transmission replaced right before the engine blew. I didn't even put 200 miles on it. All the rims are correct with proper offsets on the rear. The rims are in good condition. The only modification I made to the car was to replace the shifter with a short-shifter. I think I got that at the Fiero Store. I had the sun visors custom reupholstered (grey). I had them made to include the CD pockets on the drivers side, too. Never installed them - they are in brand new condition and included. I also purchased brand new OEM dew wipes and they are still sealed in their original packaging - these are also included. In addition have a 12" subwoofer a kid in stereo shop custom made for his Fiero. He sold it to me. It's in a custom made box that he put grey fabric on and it matches the interior. It fits snuggly under the dash in the passenger side. It kicks ass. The speaker grill is kicked in, though, and should be replaced. I never got to install it in this Fiero (it's my third one) so the mice never touched it.

I replaced the drivers side seat - it has speakers in the headrest, the passenger side does not. I have a tote-bin full of extra parts that's also included. Also included is a set of GT style rear lights in good condition. I MIGHT also have a fiberglass interior roof liner but I don't recall seeing that around. If it's here I'll include that also. Got that at the Fiero Store, too.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some informational stuff here so ask me questions and I'll try to answer them. Just remember I can't get into the interior of the car because some idiot locked the keys inside.

And no, I'm not interested in parting anything out - take the whole lot. I'd like to get it gone soonish.

Non-running Fieros don't bring very much especially one that has sat out in the woods for 20 years. IMO this is a salvage vehicle but it may have a few good rare parts like the 5 sp Getrag and the 88 suspension. Probably worth more like $400 but you never know what the market will bring

So sad to see these cars ruined by being abandoned for many years... Should have been fixed or sold when engine first blew.... I have seen about 20 88 Fieros like this in the past decade. People park them in the yard , leave for 10-15 years... and ruin them. What a shame

I'm gonna have to have a real talk with myself about whether or not driving 15 hours to get 88 suspension and a 5 speed is worth it.... I may end up PM-ing you....

Get some REALLY good pics first, maybe video call. May be rotted to crap and you drive 15 hours for nothing..

This means that the trunk / engine bay and the steering wheel are locked too....

OK - I can see this is going to be a tough sell so therefore I'm reducing the price by $1000.00. So hey, free car. Goodies still included. Come an' git it.

Just don't be a d1¢k and tell me you're coming to get it and then never show up. I just want it gone.

I'm in the process of moving and I don't have dedicated internet atm so I may not respond to messages promptly (maybe even for a day or 2). Tomorrow (Thursday April 17th) is not an option for me. I'm free most any other time.

And I'm not 100% sure the doors are actually locked. I can't get them open and they just don't budge. The keys are sitting right there on the seat. Bring a gallon of WD40. Or, I have a rock you can use once the title is transferred. And you can keep the rock as a souvineer.

I'm just going to say, this is NOT a parts car. Unless the frame is totally rotted out (which we don't know), this is a tow home, get new tires, change some hoses, and perform a tune-up on it... and then run it through a car-wash. This car is complete.

If I didn't literally just buy another car a few weeks ago, I'd buy this right now.

Have you considered putting it on eBay? The cost of these cars are sky rocketing now. You're trying to sell it here on Pennocks, but guarantee someone sees it on eBay and buys it for $2k and picks it up.

Crusty, if the car has manual roll up windows, it's fairly easy to get inside. I sent you a PM with information how to break into it. I've had to do it a few times in the past.
