Got a pair headed North to Canada and Installed a pair on a local club member's car today so that put's me down to seven sets remaining from run #4. That makes 53 pair of outers sold since January . Thanks to all who have purchased from me!

Finally installed my dew wipes that I received a few months ago. Took me two evenings after getting home from work (one for each door). Buddy Craig on Youtube has a video series showing how to do this. I'm very, very happy with these wipes.

I'll post photos eventually. I've been in a big rush to get my car ready for a show on Sunday.

Notes & Tips:

  • I tried to lift the window as some folks suggested, thus avoiding Rodney's tool. Didn't work. However, I seem to have somehow damaged my passenger window's mechanism while trying. It is very loud now. Just use Rodney's tool.
  • The centre hole is round, the outer four are oval. Do the round one first, or you'll give yourself a headache. I didn't notice right away...
  • When installing the outer dew wipes, the inners are off the car. At this point, the window doesn't move up/down straight. When the window is up, there is more room to maneuver rodney's tool into place, while it's easier to actually use the tool with the window is down. Some careful contortions (or a helper) allow you to move the windows while holding the tool in place.

Tools. I'd recommend having these before starting, saving yourself a trip to the store.

  • Rodney Dickman's tool
  • Telescoping magnet. You'll very likely drop a screw down the door. If you have a helper, they can hold the magnet near the screw as you're removing it, to catch it before it falls.
  • Door panel removal tool. I had this one, but I think this set looks better. The tool in the top-right is much better suited to prying the pegs out.
  • Utility knife. Buddy Craig has you cut away some of the old wipes. It's much easier to use Rodney's tool after doing this, as my old wipes didn't flex at all. Don't cut the new wipes
  • PB Blaster/similar penetrant. Two screws were stuck. Of course it's two you need Rodney's tool for, and can't get leverage on...

Glad to see you got them installed and that you are happy with them. Thank you for the positive review.

As you pointed out, it is important to start with the center screw. This hole is round and is what indexes the dew in the correct position on the door and must be done first. Also a wooden wedge pushed between Rodney's dew wipe tool and the window glass can help put a little extra pressure on the tool to keep it from slipping on the screw. Another trick is to use a needle nose pliers to grab on to the threaded portion of the screw when it is almost out to avoid dropping it into the door. (I have used this trick with 5 sets I have done and it works great.)
