Look what just arrived....

Looking forward to installing this. I still have a number of other items I am working on (6 speed, conversion to Carb, keyless start, Mr. Mikes seats, custom console and a few others) but I will take pics as I install this and post when complete.

Excellent product.....thanks Joe (and Tony) for making this available.

The tank looks great! I have placed an order and am still waiting for mine... haven't heard from Joe in a while though.

Has anyone done any actual measuring to see what the gain in capacity is? Also, if the tank itself is taller, does the sending unit need to be modified in order to reach down to the bottom to take advantage of that extra gas?

Thanks for the pics, cant wait until its installed.

Im back in town for a couple days, I go out of town once in a while and I tend to be hard to reach for a week or two at a time. Matt, you have a PM about your tank.

As far as usable capacity.......thats a topic that everyone is interested in. I will tell you that of the tanks that are out there, I have gotten different responses from people but they all tend to be happy that its plenty more than they used to have with the stock tank. The tank itself is just shy, if not right at 13 gallons. The reason I don't have an exact figure is because we measured one of our original designs, which came out at just shy of 13 gallons itself. The new design, used for most tanks sold was actually lengthened 3" but at the front, a notch was added for clearance so there is probably a small amount more space than the original, possibly putting us right at 13 gallons, we were that close before.

So, we start out with a larger tank than stock, then you add in the fact that we moved the vent tube up as far as it goes so we have less airspace left when the tank is full, you end up with more usable capacity.

As a disclaimer, I have never heard of any of our tanks not having enough expansion room causing a buildup of pressure and ultimately a leak. On my personal tank I had filled it up to the top at one point and fuel leaked out of my sender seal. However, using the stock sender proved to be a crappy setup and we are looking to get away from that altogether and only offering tanks with the marine sender. Therefore I would highly recommend pairing this tank with an overflow tank, whether it be stock or not, even without it ever being reported it would be awful for the fuel to expand too much, leak, and cause a car to catch fire.

As far as the sender goes, the marine sender we use is custom made to our specs, we actually install the unit for you and no adjustments need to be made, just hook up the two wires, plumb an external pump and go.

Bump....

And to ask what the cost is and if there are any options changes to the tank. Its going in a 86 SE auto.
