Thanks for the bump Monkeymanš
Yes Iām still around and the build is continuing, I have the car inspected , registered and insured and have taken it for a couple of shakedown test drivesā¦
From the test drives I found I screwed up. I purchased the PCS paddle shifters and the push button shifter GSM , I did me research and determined that the 4T65eHD trans had an internal transmission control unit āTCUā. I installed everything ran all the wiring protecting it from heat , install all the finished interior the car is complete rightā¦. 𤬠Well although the trans shifts it does have electronic servos it requires an external TCU. So after waiting 2 months for the controller because of our postal strike and FedX holding all shipping to Canada I got the TCU2800 FROM PCS. Which meant I had to remove the interior to access all the wiring that I had hide before a bit of a setback⦠Iām currently having a technician programming the TCU. Iām still working on the 1/4 windows and getting the fender and hood vents redone.
Here are a few pics prior to ripping it apart, thanks for stopping by everyone

That's one sexy machine!
It's called "progress"....you know....two steps forward and one back. For some of us it's more like one step forward...TWO back! Don't ask me how I know this....
Don't have to tell you, it'll be worth the wait and the effort, to finally get it closer to your vision....just look at what you've done.....NOTHING can stop you from seeing this to total fruition and being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
You've done a better job than Detroit usually does. So many innovations, such attention to detail....and all done by you or under your supervision, without a "plant", or assembly line, or thousands of laborer's, or millions of dollars (though you might argue that one...LOL), just good ole' blood-sweat and tears....anybody that is not overly impressed by this build, has never attempted anything akin to it, and has no comprehension of the work and time required to pull it off. I salute you sir.
Keep the updates coming, you serve as inspiration to those of us with limited abilities, time and resources.....it CAN be done...if you just stick with it and work through the rough spots....Wayne did it....maybe I can too!
Congrats on a job well done.
HAGO!

You make me blush Sageš thank you as always for your comments.
Just a bit of an update as I finally have the front fender grills and hood grill fitting and looking as I had hoped. Iāll now take everything down and have all the grills powder coated before final installation.

I got the the car out today to wash all the dust off accumulated over the winter. I test fit the front fender and hood grills before everything goes in for powder coating.

Just checking in to see if there's any progress. Could be the coolest build ever. (I'm a sucker for the 288 GTO.)

Hi Monkeyman and everyone else š
Not to much of a update, more of a setback𤬠Itās been a frustrating couple of months after receiving and installing the trans computer and having a technician in to program it for the 4T65eHD. I find out my transmission is hooped. It only had 50,000 kilometres on it when I bought the engine and trans back in 2005 with 50K on the drivetrain. I had the fluids changed and trans flushed hoping it would solve my problem, the trans was running within limits but running at 216 degrees max operating is 220. So I installed a auxiliary transmission cooler hoping it would also solve the shifting problems, NO LUCK .Anyway I thru a transgo shift kit into it hoping it would help to cleanup and harden the shift as it seamed really sluggish and still not working correctly so it goes in tomorrow to be rebuilt, Iām not happy. Anyway I took it for a spin today to get some enjoyment, oh I also got the grills powder coated I ended up going semigloss black, tell me what you thinkš The Black sail plane fills are the templates to make the metal grill fills

Don is just about finished reprogramming the HVAC/Lights controller
