Ugh, what a freakin' pain. If you have the time, get the car out in the sun for a couple of weeks, just let it bake. I just hate doing a job twice because of bad fiberglass.
Looks like my comment about a light at the end of the tunnel was dead wrong. Sorry if I jinxed you...
BTW, welcome to the construction zone...

Wow what a surprise! I almost freaked out when the thread was closed in general! So still popping bubbles. I will let the bumper sit out tommorow if it is not raining again but I think I have found most of the issues. Started repairing them and so far I think I got the hips taken care of and now working on the door tops I have a ford focus in the way of getting it out of the garage at moment as I had the ford scheduled to be here for a trani fix thinking Johns car would have been in Milwaukee this week getting its parts bolted on so, till I finish up the ford it is stuck in the garage. I should be good by Sunday I think tho if everything goes right with the ford I got the trani back in tonight had a bad slave cylinder. just need to bolt it down and get a new trani mount from the bone yard tomorrow as it is cracked and I dont want to give it back like that. One thing I have been working on while I cant do other things is figuring out a way to support the rear decklid and I have come up with a nice gas strut to hold it open that does not get in way of supercharger or anything else. I will post pics of it soon. Think I may have top get a stronger gas strut tho right now I have a 60lb one on it but with the wing I think i will have to step up to a 80 and I am going to get a locking one too so it can be mechanically locked open on windy days at car shows.

Nice work Jets, and nice car Johnny. |

Decided to leave them open in case anything from the road gets stuck in them like roadkill. Dont need it smelling like death.

John!!! I know your off playing flying gas station but I really need that door ram!!!! lol!! Most of the repairs to the gel coat are done I just need to spot prime a few spots then wait for the never ending rain to stop so I can leave the nose out in the sun some more and wrap that mess up. Onward!!! Trunk lid gas strut setup I made works nice! Might have to do one in my car too!

Repairs coming along, lots and lots of pin holes in the fiberglass to fill now that I have the nose stripped bare of the bad gel coat/bubbly fiberglass mudded up and sanded. Sprayed a light coat of fill primer on it tonight to see where I was at with it and I am thinking with a few more days of work being very picky I should have it ready for repaint by next week if all goes well. The hips and door panels are also in fill prim and need final sanding again.... This has been a nightmare to fix. Burnt 200 bucks in material so far between sand paper fill primer and mud and still need to get more paint probably. Not cool not at all when I am on a very tight personal budget.

Finished the last bit of wiring tonight as I had to modify a harness for the power mirrors. the bumper is fixed and ready for a final coat of filler just to be safe. the door skins are sanded and ready for paint same with the hips. I have decided to not show pictures of the rework areas I want this to be a happy memory and seeing the car as you see it above it will be again in 2 weeks when it goes back to Milwaukee for repaint. For now I am fine tuning things that bothered me the first time around and made a few changes that hopefully make it all worth it.Right now I am looking for a stick on seal l shaped rubber quarter by quarter neoprene black gasket for the hood. I do not like the hood gap but need ot for the hood to properly work so the solution will be to do like they do on a lot of the newer cars and fill gaps with gaskets. then I can color match the gasket using grey rtv it is almost a exact match to this paint and smooths out like glass using a old aircraft sealing trick I learned years ago.

John got The rubber on the Wheels finally, Hopefully it cools down a bit so i can stand being in the Garage!! was 98 in there tonight but put them on and I discovered the offset is prob pretty good for the back but for sure the front is just way too far off to even consider using those rims as it is not a off road stadium truck. We need a good Inch and a half or more to make it look right. Other than that waiting on door ram I put old one back in it for now so it cant go by mark for repair paint and all the trim parts added. Was messing with a few other things too blacking out areas and just starting to clean it all up while I wait.
