a question about the chop.
Did you let the windshield stay in during the cuting and then changed to the Mazda windshield? Or did you place the Mazda windshield direct when you did the second chop.

Hope you understod my question.

No, the second chop was done old school the roof had to be made wider to fit Mazda windshield (top of windshield is 2" wider. We had a donor roof and used front and back roof pieces
sleeved into existing roof to make roof wider (rear pillars stayed same angle for 2" chop), We used Mazda windshield frame direct on while tweaking it to fit.

Hope that helps a bit ?

Thanks. I was thinking of the best way to place a S60 windscreen in when i do my next car. That windscreen is 90cm about 35.5" from top to bottom in the center. That will place the bottom about where the hood lock is on my car, if you know what i mean.
How far did yours reach?

Sharkman, tomorrow I'll get that info with pics. What is S60 windscreen ?

Back to play...
Clynt is always checking my work (he is too fussy )

Started to butcher up hood #4 or 5

Cutting across hood to bend hood curve slope down

Pliogrip cuts, notice 2x4 on each side of rad to help bend hood when closed

Blocks of wood to weigh down hood, 2x4 still under hood for bending

Using cut off wheel to make space under hood for headlights (I hate power tools )

End of day...

Nice. Will the pliogrip alone hold it? It seems like there is a lot of tension. The angle of the hood looks much better now.

The windscreen I am Going to use is from Volvo S60/V70N.
My daily drive so it was easy to messure.

Howdy!! I have noticed you hate the power tools for cutting! me too so I tried this and it works tons better and gives me total control of really fine cuts, just like you yesterday I cut off the headlight door mounts under the hood!

The right angle grinder came from Home Depot 15 dollars, the metal cut wheel came from harbor freight 6 pack for 5 bucks and the speed cut wheel and the spindle can be found online at mc-master carr they have a bunch of different sizes and are really thin for fine cuts also super cheap. Try them out I think you will like them so much safer using the air than the electric.

On the spindle I stack up cad washers to bring the wheel out closer to the end of the shaft making it fit in tight spots easier.
NOW GET TO WORK!!!

Thanks for the tip, that tool looks even meaner I'll see what Clynt thinks, it's his fingers

NOW BACK TO WORK...
Cynt had an emergency with his bubble top, it was over heating badly, so RBS2 was a parts car
We installed Champion 3 row rad, rad overflow tank, windshield tank and some brackets all from poor RBS2

Finished with Clynt's ride and we made a rough mock up for front end (the negative zone)

Dexter is the family dog watching over RBS2

Clynt started to fabricate upper brackets for front wing

We had a good day...

Because we don't have Harbor Freight in BC, its pretty much the same as Princess Auto up here. I've personally never heard of Mc Master Carr but I am sure Princess has similar stuff.

Side note, before anyone asks what the extra bits in Clynt's bubble top are, he is one of the lucky ones to have Electro Hydraulic Power Steering in his car. Not one of the OEM kits, but one he designed himself. Works really well.

Side note, John I can't believe you worked on the car today, it was so freaking hot here, I just said forget it and Lisa, Arianna and I went swimming for the day. When we got back I went to the garage and the garage thermostat read 35C even with both doors open it only dropped it to 34 after a half hour. We were really thinking about going to the Pride Parade today, but just too freaking hot.

OK now you can get back to work, LOL. Car is looking great.
