newest project (Page 312/312)

Hi all,

Posting here post pandemic.

I'm pleased to report the Indy has a new home in MD, USA!
Steve purchased it from Gary last fall.
Hopefully I'll get to see some updated pics of it in the future.

I've been busy on the new project car this year.
A 1978 Pontiac Firebird known as RyeBird.
I'm just the 2nd owner of this low mileage example.
I have started a Resto-Mod project on it after its 25 year slumber in my in-laws garage.

I have a car lift now (and a second garage) which makes the hobby of working on project cars even more fun!

Cheers,
Ryan from Niagara

Any word if the new owner will be registering it for the GM Nationals in Carlisle (since that is pretty close to them?) or going to be at the 40th? I'd love to see the car in person.

It was nice seeing that car in person at Carlisle last year. A little sad to see it going up for auction.

Thanks Fierosound for posting the link to the auction.
I'm glad to see that it has been well taken care of.
Now it has been seen in person by many, in addition to over 2 decades of online views.

My goal was to show what a DIY Indy Fiero project could be.
The project started in 2003 and was completed in 2017.
It was built with parts of the time.
It was at the 25th anniversary Fiero show in Pontiac where it won "Work in Progress".
I drove it on track at Indy for the 30th anniversary show where it was a "Modified" award winner.

I told everyone that even though this is a one off concept, it's what I thought the next gen Corvette C8 should look like (and be mid engine).
As it turned out in 2020 to my surprise, that became reality.
Of course it was a lot bigger and heavier but the exotic car shape and silhouette was there.

The many awards Fiero2m8 continues to win warms my heart for all the time and money spent DIY building the Indy project.
I guess you could say the effort and passion "paid off".
I texted the Mecum link to my wife and the reply was "Absolutely not!" LoL
Nevertheless, I'll be following how it goes and hopefully the new owner is on PFF.

Hey Ryan,

It's Steve with the North Star stretch. I desperately need to know what type of cables you guys used on the transmission. Having issues and it needs to go to Mecum in Harrisburg on July 24th. Please let me know what you guys used for the cables.

Thanks!!!

Hey Steve,

Check page 7 of this thread as it was designed to use stock Fiero cables. Not sure if they were eventually modified as I never replaced them.

Curious on the reserve and what the expected sale price is.
