Any news, pics, or updates on your old roadster ??

Hi Exoticse,
Roadster is living about half hour up the road in the Hamilton, Ontario area.
I don't have any recent pics, but as far as I know other than the ECM being swapped, little has been done to complete it due to new owner having multiple projects.

Swapped over the axle shafts that will fit my axles:

Installed the flywheel with new 12.9 bolts torqued to 45 ft/lbs:

Kevlar clutch and pressure plate are on:

Got lucky as input shaft was aligned perfectly and transaxle slid right on:

Just a matter of reconnecting the rest of the linkage, starter and new slave cylinder:

The shifter throws were adjusted:

Gravity bled the slave prior to install:

Got all gears shifting smoothly once aligned:

Just needed to adjust clutch freeplay (quite easy as both ends of cylinder are threaded:

Now I can put the tailights and rear bumper back on so I can drive it for the season:

Looks great!

If you're around next Saturday you should bring it down to the London fleetwood show!

Thanks Chris, unfortunately I will miss it as I'm at the African Lion Safari with the kids that day for a Samsung event.
There will be more opportunities though...in the meantime I need to renew my plates etc.

Got around to installing the DIY Stu inner dew wipes

Also re-installed the windshield molding.
I didn't like the Fiero Store one as it didn't fit well even though it is thin and good looking.
So I put the the old univeral trim back in using 3M sunroof sealer so it will be easy to remove later.

This will get redone by the glass shop as an future upgrade since the used one doesn't look perfect.

June 5th 2012 is the official day that Fiero2m8's Newest Project is back on the road

After a few days of negotiation and supporting documents, I finalized the collector car insurance for the Fiero using a stated value policy.
FYI if you have an Indy Fiero, they don't like going above $14k without proof of investment and/or an appraisal.

Then I made my trip to the license bureau for the sticker renewal and they dinged me for last year as well as this year even though it was off the road since September 2009!
They always find a way to get your money and since I needed to keep my personalized plates on it, I lost that common sense debate.

When my son Andrew was helping to re/re the plate to install the sticker, he found a melted license plate holder behind the plate from a warm exhaust!
So it's removed and it's bolted to metal screen now.

Next we are investigating and repairing a couple minor leaks in the cooling system and transaxle.
Then I will decide on where the first public unveiling will be (preferrable somewhere close to home)

Will do - going to take it to get the A/C system charged and then back to the painter's for some finish work prior to any car shows.
Today I put my stock headlight bucket back in as a temp solution until I can get one of your projector kits installed
As you can see below, it's an area that needs modernizing to compliment the rest of the design.

Last night I worked on repairing two minor transaxle leaks.
One was where the speedo sensor mounts to the tailshaft and the other was the seal surrounding the shifter linkage.

Luckily for a change, this is something I could do with the transaxle in the car.
Just removed the rear diffuser to gain access from underneath.

The old seal was time consuming to get out and the powdercoating didn't help.
Some patience, heat and a pick set, I eventually got it out without any damage to the surrounding housing or shaft.

Stopped by to see August at the local Porsche garage and he had a new seal for the 914 in stock at no charge.
Install of new seal went much faster than getting the old one out

Left everything overnight and no leaks today so I put the diffuser back on.
This time I used stainless screws as fasteners instead of nut and bolts to allow for easier access in future (one man job from underneath only)
Topped up the fluid and called it a day since it was raining and the F1 qualifying was on.

Planning on it's first proper car wash and a cruise after the Canadian Grand Prix tomorrow.

Well I've never been one to censor my build threads (I report it all good, bad, or ugly) and am not about to start now.
During a shake down run yesterday, I came off the highway to a stop sign and while sitting at the stop sign with the clutch dumped, the car lurked forward and stalled.
Upon a quick inspection, the slave popped out of the bracket mounting slot.
There are many ways of improving the design to ensure this doesn't happen again.
Here's my temp fix that prevents a reoccurance in the meantime:

Today's bad news was a minor leak in the driver's side radiator as shown here:

Bubbajoe, let me know where know where I would buy a replacement in case it comes down to that.
The thought of removing the 1/4 panel to swap a rad isn't enticing, but nothing I can't handle.
Since it stopped leaking after the engine cooled, I might have some a chance with a stop leak product.
I'm thinking that's the next step since I checked and it's not originating from any hose connections...
