Spent the day running around gathering parts and things. I am building an Injector test / cleaner thingie so A lot of time was spent at Lowes, Radio Shack and Autozone. Started some of the assembly but still have a way to go. Maybe finished tomorrow and can start testing/cleaning injectors. I also went to the junk yard and picked up some valve cover bolts, N* injectors for testing the tester thingie and a single injector coupler from a N* for the tester thingie. This afternoon, I pivked up a 88 Cradle to build the 4.9 on - hope to make the swap easier/quicker and it keep the car on the ground and the code Nazi's away.

The cradle is in pretty good shape. It has a small bent area on the crossmember and some craking at the trans mount. I'll straighten it up, weld the cracks and give it some paint.

My junk yard goodies:

And my injector tester thingie so far:

Managed to get some more work done on my injector tester thingie. It's definitely heavy duty but I used what I had laying around the shop. Just have to get the wiring harness done and I can start testing and cleaning injectors.

Need to do some triming once the mounts are complete:

Hey P,

Nice to see you're making progress. Love the injector tests. I've never seen that before.

Hey Greg,

I'd rather be woking on some interior pieces but I got to get the grease monkey project out of the way. Not sure I'm doing myself any good with the injector testing but I'm learning something.... You can teach an old dog new tricks! Should make some good progress this weekend on the swap. I hope to get the mounts finished up and the belt assembly done. Next weekend I plan to build the exhaust - or at least get it mocked up. Work is crazy busy so I only have the weekends for the next month or so. Work sure throws a wrench in my plans!

Managed to get some fitup done on the cradle/engine today. I was having a hard time till Frizlefrak brought his 4.9 Coupe over so I could take some measurements. I got the trans mounts done and will start on the engine mounts in the AM. I had some things to fix on the cradle so I pulled the motor back off and worked on the cradle.

Trans mounts done:

The cradle I picked up had a little bend to it - looks like somone tried to drag it with a chain or strap.

Before:

After:

There were some cracks in the trans mount - welded the cracks from both sides then smoothed out the top:

Prepped and welded the trans pan notch:

Had to remove some old e brake cables:

Boxed in a notch for the trans valve body cover:

Once I get everything mounted and welded, I'll sand blast it and give it a good coat of paint. Hope to have it done and ready to go in the car by Monday.
