Tell the Ghestapo to stick it in their ear. Set the car on cinder blocks, put the wheels on (just so the wheels look like their on the ground) and tell them that the car is functional except for an engine.

Seems the Code Compliance Nazi's paid my little Hacienda a visit today and gave me a warning about working on my car in the driveway. Seems that sitting on jack stands with the tires removed is a code violation. Hmmm... But it's ok for the neighbor to leave his broke down suburban with no motor in it parked facing the wrong direction on the street? Oh yeah - it's registered in Mexico too! Maybe if I put it up on cinderblocks and put 13" true spokes on it with fuzzy balls hanging around the windshiled it will pass inspection. Looks like the XTC will not get worked on till I can find a shop to buy or lease.

You've got it easy, the driveway Nazis once told me I couldn't take the interior door panel off a truck for 15 minuted and set it against the truck while I worked on the power locks, then they tried make small talk and told me they knew cars and the fiero was really a 300ZX

I have a few sets of 2.8 injectors if needed for your research.
Moving day is March 5th! I just found out I have similar restrictions at the new house. No cars outside or maintanace outside the garage! Time to build!

Pat, if you set the car back on the ground and make it look driveable, you should be ok when you are not actively working on it. You can also put a car cover over it and that should keep them happy. Probably just a cranky neighbor. I had mine up on a scissors jack when I had the alternator out. but I looked fine since I had the tires mounted and lowered the jack to ride height.

Pshh, he got it easy! I'm doing all the work AND paying for all of it with my "swap".

I just have a hard time accepting thatsome clown that I pay for through the rediculous taxes, can tell me what I can and can't do on my own property. I know that it is designed to keep neighborhoods from looking like junk yards - and in El Paso, it would not take long before that would happen, but they should give you more than 24 hours. The compliance nazi told my son if it were not off the jack stands with the tires back on, they would give me a fine and/or have the car towed away. I corrected the problem by following the rules. Put the tires back on and set it back on the ground. My only problem now is when I go to do the swap. I do not have room in the garage to do it. It will have to be done in the driveway. I think I'll get another cradle and get it all setup. Then maybe I can drop out the old and stuff in the new, get the tires on it and set back down before the nazi's roll by! I wonder if I put up my portable garage in the driveway if I can get away with it? Maybe worth a try!

WOW... My advice, unless you're friends with your neighbors, take pics of the other car and anything else that might be questionable or what can be contrude as a visial irritant. You might have a case against the HOA. I've lived in several neighborhoods with HOAs and they're just horrible.
jmbishop FEB 04, 01:47 PM
It might not be the hoa, it might have been the cities code enforcement.
katatak FEB 05, 08:50 PM
Jim is correct - City Code enforcement. It was not a complaining neighbor. Found out to day, they Code Enforcement bunch is doing a "blitz" in my area. The Suburban parked the wrong way in the street is out of thier jurisdiction? It's a "traffic" violation. So it gets to sti in the street. It seems that the only violation is a car on jack stands. As long as it is on the ground with tires, it's OK. Even if all the tires are flat and the car is a wreck? If it is on jack stands and I am in the "act" of repairing the vehicle, it's OK but only for the time I am actually working on it. I think it's time to build that 10 foot rock wall and a solid iron gate.

I spent the week in Pueblo, CO. I took a few fuel injectors with me to "play" with in the hotel after work. I'm still trying to find out what the difference is between the Disc type and the Pintle type injector. Can't seem to find a good definitive answer on which is better and/or if mixing them makes a difference. I'll keep digging. I did manage to get these pretty clean. I still think I'll try the Ultrasonic cleaner on them.

And without the flash:

Of course having a Giant Mobile Ultrasonic Machine helps......

A few scenic shots form my fun in Pueblo:
