Hey P,

Just read the updates. So the Casino trip didn't work out. Let's hope the gamble with the new engine pans out! Isn't it fun though? You get a new "toy" and then you have to clean the garage? I never understood that. Lifes little mysteries I guesss?

It's a never ending cycle Greg. New toy, clean the garage, rebuild a toy, clean the garage and on and on. Got more "great" news today from work. Looks like I'll be out of town for all of February. At least they are going to let me go home on the weekends but I won't get much done trying to recooperate and then regroup for the next week. It would not bother me but the first week will be in Pueblo crawling around on the tracks then the second week in Omaha - what can I say - it's Omaha in February. Then i get to come home for a 3 day weekend just to turn around and go back to Omaha for 3 days then off to Wyoming for the last week.

Got some much needed parts inthe mail today. Thanks to member Bizziedude! I now have the outer Fiero M/T axle stubs for the swap. Should have the Silhouette axles on Friday. Plan is to drop the Duke out Saturday if it is not snowing! Moving forward!

I do not want to upset any of the fine Fiero folks that live in Nebraska - I like the country but simply because the home office is in Omaha, Greg, you are 100% correct. It's a deep dark hole that I have to frequent on ocaision so that the higher ups have someone to whip on. Hell with ear muffs on is a good description.

So I get up this morning and felt 1 year older.....Another year has passed, I gained some more gray hair and what's the first thing I do? At about 8:00 am, it was 30* out and we had a sciff of snow. I put on my insulated coveralls and headed for the junk yard - I took the day off due it being my Birthday and the first thing on my mind is my Fiero's - It's a terrible disease with no cure!

My plan was to snag a couple axles out of a silhouette that I had scoped out earlier in the week. I loaded all me tools in the mega pull wheel barrow and headed out to the yard. I was prepared for a whole day of cussing and knuckle busting. Much to my delight, the drivers side was dismantled and all I had to do was pop the axle out. Then I lumped on the passenger side. It took all of 30 minutes to tear it down and pop out the axle. While I was there, I picked up some hood vents for my V8 project. I got out the gate for 20.00........ Happy Birthday to me!

The Donor:

Hmmm... How am I going to brake this axle nut loose?

Nothing a big crow bar can't handle:

Will it come out easy or will it fight me all he way?

At home on the bench with the Fiero M/T axle stubs:

Hope I got the right ones. I was expecting both sides to have the "male" axle stub. The Driver side has a "female" stub!

More later!

Pat

Did a little more with the axles this afternoon. Got the outer stub off one axle, cleaned up he axle and installed a new CV boot and the Fiero M/T stub. Just need to fill it up with grease and install the clamps.

Slimy

Cleaned up:

Fiero M/T Stub slid tight on:

Gave it a little tap on one end and the clip popped into place:

Could not be any easier!

More tomorrow.

Pat

I cleaned up the other axle and cleaned out the Fiero M/T axle stub.

Went to the Mega Pull and scored some more parts:

Hey P,

I wasn't implying that Omaha isn't a nice place... I was refering to the weather. Isn't cold this time of year?
