Cool idea, I will definetely consider it. I am kinda partial to the oldschool look.

Bringing this thread up to date....

I don't think I ever described the hinges we made for the hatchback lid.

As I've stated before I wanted this hatchback kit done so that no mods needed to be done to the rear clip to install the hatch. So we modified the old Fiero decklid hinges to fit under the plastic upper rear roof section of the rear clip.

We then inserted a threaded plate between the 2 layers of the Fiero spaceframe behind the sunroof opening.

The hatch is setup to use the original Fiero decklid bumpers, Key Lock & latch....

On the underside of the hatch where the screens are, we made a flat fiberglass trim pc. to give it the same finished look as the rest of the underside of the hatch. It's glued on at the same time as the screens are installed with 3M Window Weld.

With most of the mods we do here, we don't do final paint here & most paint guys want to do their own prep for paint. Considering that it may be a few months before this car is painted, it was decided that We'd put a coat of primer on it to get it presentable. The guy who will be painting it was consulted as to the primer we would use so that it's compatable with the stuff he will be using when he preps & finishes the car.

So we set about scuffing up the body, Masking it off & putting 2 coats of primer on it.....

Now we're putting it all back together for the last time.

Since Clayton has been having trouble getting the wheels he had on order & since the car will be shown at the Dells this month, clayton decided to get some wheel adapters to move the wheels out 2.75" until he gets the new wheels.

More pics later.

Nice!

That was Clayton's call.

I know that you know this but a clarification is needed so that people don't start sending hate mail.

They're actually wheel adapters. From 5 on 100 to 5 on 100. They bolt to the hub then the wheel bolts to the adapter.

A true spacer would mean that somehow there's long studs running thru the adapter & the wheel.

Paint=SWEET!!!

I was impressed with the guy who did the adapters for me. I custom ordered them last Thursday in the evening. Archie got them Monday! Wheel Adapters. I highly recommend them, they can build just about anything you want in just a few hours ready to ship. I would have rather have had my wheels, but we made the best of the situation.

Sorry, I'll have more pics tomorrow morning.

We put the 350Z rear window into the hatch today & it needs to sit for a few hours before we can take the weights off of it.

If it doesn't rain, we'll get it outside for some pics tomorrow as early as I can.
