I got a return phone from Oville.

He is coming by the shop in his orange chopper to view #020 today or this Friday. We spoke on the phone for several minutes taking about the SB100 and other CA scrap you must go through to get a simple Fiero. LOL. California, you gotta love them. Always making it hard for a guy to pass when the other 49 states just stick a sniffer up the tail pipe. However, I digress. Soap box off. Orville will be taking some pictures and he might post them or just send my the CD copy.[This message has been edited by madcurl (edited 08-30-2012).]

Ohhhh, I like those gunmetal wheels on the red choptop. What's the plan for wheels? I like the big, blingy wheels but those gunmetal ones give the car a much sportier look IMO.

The gun metal wheels are nothing more than test mules for they've been used on several cars while in the shop for tweaking. Besides, they are only 19x7.5 and you can't used them for wide body Fiero's. They are other gun metal wheels with aggressive pattern and are wider. Car-Lo and Demancheno has a nicer pair of wheels.[This message has been edited by madcurl (edited 08-31-2012).]

DAY TWO: Street talk.
On Friday I stopped by the shop thinking they had mounted the various parts on the car, but that didn't happen. However, I was able to go over the details of the polish job and people kept passing by and then turning around to park to look at the chopper. The dead give-away obviously were the PONTIAC tail lamps for most said it's a Fiero, but didn't know exactly what was done to it or how.
Before answering their questions I turned it around and asked them what items do you detect that are from other makes of cars. Off the bat, nobody said anything about the car being chopped. The 350Z they didn't even know it came from so as a black 350Z kept coming around the block looking I told the young couple, "It came from that car." Most of the people on Friday were 25-30 yrs old and were shocked that the car was the same age. The front windshield nobody could guess that either so I pointed to my Eclipse. Some didn't believe me so they had to go to my work car to compare, but still they said, "No way."
Evene the side Corvette marker lights nobody knew because they were flipped (facing backwards). It was a split as-to what areas they liked the best. Some were stuck on the front while others near the rear hips. Even a few liked the stock tail lamps in how it was tweaked along with the side vent. One girl asked was it functional and I replied, "It's like lip gloss. A girl doesn't need it, but it sure looks good on top of lip stick."
As usual most asked about where to buy the kit, but I didn't have any business cards so I told them V8Archie from IL. I didn't go into detail about the tweakness involved, but only that you can buy the kit. When I hit the switch to raise the front flipper they asked about that too and if that nose is offered. I said, "You can purchase the nose, but it's not exactly like this." I didn't go into detail as to what you need to do to get it as-is, but hey-you never bolt on any after market part anyway. You tweak it first and then you bolt it on.

The detailed guy at the shop told me somebody sneeked upon him as he was doing something between the door jams and the person startled him as the person face was right next to his when he turned. The shop guy jumped back! As they were polishing other cars people kept asking them about #020 and that continued throughout the day until I arrived. The shop guy arrived early that morning inorder to not be distracted.
While at the shop I notice a very nice poster on the wall. I called the shop and they let me have it!
Pardon the pun, but nice shoes.[This message has been edited by madcurl (edited 09-01-2012).]

I came by the shop today to see if they had installed the body parts. Nothing was done for the parts are at the main shop and will be installed on Wednesday. Anyway, the shop guy said he couldn't get any work done because people kept stopping by, asking questions if the car was a new 370Z. He said it was due to the rear hatch. A couple of older guys wanted to know when the car would be put back together and if they could take pictures. [This message has been edited by madcurl (edited 09-05-2012).]

That is cool you built a 370Z kit car. Will you be installing Nissan emblems soon?
