87 2.5L Fiero wont start (Page 1/1)

Hey! As the title says, my 87 Fiero won't start. I just bought it and I don't know how long it's been sitting but they guy I bought it from said he got it 3 months before me and was never able to start it. I turned the key and the fuel pump didn't make a sound. I read that running pin G from the ALDL would test the fuel pump and got nothing from the pump but 12 volts on my multimeter. I'm going to try and replace that tomorrow but I'm wondering what other things I should take care of for this car that has been sitting for a long time. The engine oil and transmission fluid have been changed. The spark plugs and cables have also been replaced.

As long as the harness from the gas tank is connected, 12v (usually taken from the cigarette lighter) to the fuel pump terminal of the ALDL port should run the pump. (This bypasses the relay.)

Only other thing I would recommend is that you make sure to replace the rubber lines (and clamps) that go between the hard lines to the engine, and the hard lines on the sending unit. The lines are probably original, and should be replaced. There should be three of them... which all attach to the sending unit lines.

Getting down to basics a no start condition is usually related to fuel or spark. If the original fuel pump is still there my first guess would be the pump.
