Slowly working to remove engine from; 1988 GT V6. Using a two post lift. Hydraulic lift talble under engine (Harbor Frieght, 1000 LBS capacity). Nice car, 40,000 miles. Car appears to have sat for some time. Rear bank of spark plugs look rusted in. So, might as well drop engine. Do it once, and hopefully enjoy the car. Questions; Does the rear bumper cover or heat shield, need to be removed, to have the engine drop out of the bottom? Is there an updated AC condensor available (parrallel flow)? Is there a drain plug on the factory radiator? My plan is to replace anything that looks sketchy. Probably, AC compressor, clutch, slave cylinder, spark plug wires, spark plugs, water pump, coolant hoses, rubber brake lines, engine mounts, brake pads and rotors. To start a list what might be needed. Engine is not out yet. I will know more once engine is out. Anything I need to be aware of during all of this? Thank you in advance. mrv

You must have an oddball Fiero, as it's the front bank of spark plugs on a Fiero V6 that usually get quite corroded.

let me rapid fire answer these rear bumper can stay in place and most of the heat shielding as i have never removed any from a v6 car to do it it is worth it to note that the rubber ones need to be removed but alas none of mine have it still, you drop the entire subframe not just the engine itself trust me it becomes much easier than trying to fiddle with it otherwise, i dont believe there is a parallel flow condenser for the fiero specifically but i think the size is common enough that you may find one, yes there is a drain plug in the factory radiator but ive broken more of them off than i have had come loose... so just loosen the allen plus in the cooling lines by the rear of the cooling tubes and then open the thermostat housing cap and that will get 90 percent of it out now the spark plugs rusting out is definetely a gt thing. my 87 had plugs so bad it took me 3 days to get one of them out and the best advice to to be extremely careful and if you arent sure if its supposed to be removed then do it anyways and if nothing else then its one extra thing you can be sure works
