I've been thinking about abnormal engine swaps, and i've been trying to find/read on swapping an engine into a fiero that was never rear engined and how to make the shifter function (e.g., Honda engine for example) I'm really unsure how to google search this one, so i'm coming up short... In a very basic sense, do you just take the shifter from the donor car and flip the lines to point backward instead of forward? Only thing i can figure is the shifting might be backward (1st where 5th is or whatever), but then you can add a pivot point... Sorry for what might be a really basic question, the concept is making my brain hurt.

Look at the F40 and F23 swap as they were OEM FWD transmissions and commonly swapped into Fieros.
At a very high level, keep the fiero shifter, try to reuse the stock fiero cables, and make the custom brackets to get the proper motion at the transmission.
For example, my F40 shifter kit uses stock Fiero 5 speed shifter, isuzu shift cable, getrag select cable, and custom shift bracket at the transmission and a bolt on reverse lockout.
