Fix click-click on wipers? (Page 1/1) |

My windshield wipers (1988 GT, 3.4, 4T60) make a "click" noise with each wipe. I've been tolerating it for a couple of years. 'Don't take the Fiero out in the rain too often. But the clicking noise is irritating.
A few months ago I was having a Fiero talk at a gas station with a guy who seemed experienced and I mentioned the click. He said it was "an easy fix" then he left without explaining.
Did he know what he was talking about? This is a common thing with "an easy fix"?
Where's the best place to start?
As always, thanks for your help.

My '88 wipers doesn't 'click-click'...
Of course, always check that your windshield and the wiper blades are clean; made sure they're the correct sizes, then check the ANGLE

Has the pinch clamp on the wiper mechanism loosened on the pivot ball on the motor arm?

This is my thought as well.
When you remove the cowl cover (the plastic cowl with the metal screen), you'll see there are 2 (? I think) ball pivots... maybe one. There's an arm, with a little cap on it held on by 2 screws and nuts. The cap is actually made of copper, and it can wear out. If it's loose though too... the ball would move around in the "capture" and make that clicking noise. If you remove that cap, you can also pack it with grease... which is really kind of a maintenance thing that I don't think anyone ever considers.
