87-88 headlight assembly question (Page 1/1)

Hey guys! I've been here a lot lately haven't I? 😅

While I wait for some parts to come in I've turned my attention to the wiring and lights on my 88 project. I went to see if the headlights pop up and....well they try. We'll get to that later. But I noticed to my absolute horror that the headlight assembly piece where the actual bulb sets into was broken bad. You can see it's broken by the rusty nut on the bottom right.

I know the headlights went through some changes, especially in 87-88. My question is did this specific piece that the headlight sits in change? Or is it mostly the motor and how it's powered that changed. I COULD try super glue but it probably wouldn't hold. Thanks!

No, I believe your broken part is the same for all years. You should have no problem finding a used replacement.

Give Patrick a positive rating if you can... he needs it.

And I concur with what he said... they are the same. I've never seen one break like that!

Off the subject I will come out in support of Patrick. He is a long time member, may be outspoken at times but always tries to help other members.

The only differences in the assembly area for the 87 and 88 is the motor and one of the bolts that holds the motor is shorter than earlier years.
