| Unknown Sensors for 1986 Fiero SE V6 (Page 1/2) |

I have all of these unhooked sensors on my engine. But don't know where they go. Need help finding where they go. Send photos of where they connect because I don't know much about engines and also number them to help me.
1: Just all of the wires bundled up.
2-4: These are each sensor in a separate photo.
5: The plugging for the distributor is broken so I need to buy a new one but don't know the name of it.

Pics 2 and 3 go thru the firewall and connect under the center console, pics 3 and 4 go to the ecm in the center console, last pic is one of 2 connectors for the coil. Pull the center console and all will be revealed!

could I get some photos though. I'm not the best with engines. you also said center console. Do they go back into the cabin of the car?

Yes, 2, 3, 4, and 5 go into the cabin underneath the "armrest" (center console), 3 is left unplugged, and is fastened underneath the cigarette lighter surround plate in the center console, 4 and 5 are plugged into the ECM (silver box thing fastened to the rear wall directly behind the "glove box"/compartment in the center console). The service/repair manuals have all the information for the things your looking for.
5 is just "ignition coil connector", here at rock auto, if going to a parts place, then they should be able to figure it out from the name.

that would explain why the cover for the shifter is loose and not connected. the previous guy must of been digging in there trying to connect it. Am I going to need to lift the car and go under it to reattach the wires to the centers console or is there another way, cause right now all of them are in the engine bay connected to something else that is on the left downwards of the engine.
edit: just saw the photo. my PC is slow. so that fire wall part is the entrance of the wires. ill have to look at them later cause mine go down in the engine bay
another edit: where did you get those covers. I surprisingly only have one tear out of both of the seats and would like to keep it that way by getting some covers. Don't want anymore to form.[This message has been edited by Carlin (edited 09-09-2025).]

ill have to look at it in a bit. I bought this manual off of amazon but its kinda useless. The first thing I did was look up the ground strap location and it only shows it for the 4 cylinder even though the book says all models.

Yeah, Haynes, Chilton, etc. are aftermarket manuals, they have a lot of known issues with bolt torque specs etc being wrong, the one linked is the GM manual, and while it is maybe a little harder to navigate, it has a lot more information.

If the wires can reach the edge of the trunk compartment as shown in the first picture, there should be enough slack to send them into the interior. Nothing immediately on that end of the wiring should be connected anywhere near the back side of the engine, it should come through the firewall, run down it a little bit, then run along the metal comment pipe on the engine to the timing cover area, cross over the engine there, then go under the alternator and to the transmission. All along that main path there will be placed where it splits of for all the sensors and other things, including a bundle running over each valve cover.

If you can get your hands on a factory service manual do it. The 2nd part that has helped me is the various catalog sites of parts long since discontinued.
A lot of great knowledge on here and as I'm sure many say a photo is worth a thousand words.
I'll chime in where I know/can, my ride is a different year though, 84 indy and not ready to present.
