The temp gauge on my 85GT seems to settle around mid point after I shut off the engine. It stays there until its time to start the engine when the gauge needle jumps to minimum and rises as the engine warms. Only noticed this on my 85 as it doesn't happen on my 87GT. What could be causing this? ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. "THE COLUSSUS" 87GT - ALL OUT 3.4L Turbocharged engine, Garrett Hybrid Turbo, MSD ign., modified TH125H " ON THE LOOSE WITHOUT THE JUICE "

That's normal enough, 84/5 don't have the auto zeroing gauges, if you turn the ignition off while moving, the Speedo will stay where it was when the ignition turns off, or thereabouts. 86+had gauges that snap to zero when the ignition is turned off.

Thanks for clearing up the confusion. Didn't realize that the early gauges were not auto zeroing. Its the only 85GT that I've ever owned. We have a gauge console in the garage from an 87. Would it help to install it? Already have the aux gauges over the center console wired in but is it even worth the trouble?. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. The lighting is better on the newer ones, other than that neither one is "better"specifically, auto zeroing is more just a cosmetic feature, I prefer the lower speedometer reading of the early ones, but that's just me.
