How to adjust throttle on a 2.5, so it can reach WOT? (Page 1/1) |

Hello,
Just replaced a snapped throttle cable and noticed the car's lacking some power. Turns out that the throttle plate doesn't reach wide open throttle with the pedal fully pressed. There's about 20 degrees lacking by eyeballing it compared to opening it up with the lever fully.
Can't find any info on how to set it up and I don't see any adjustments available on the throttle body.
What is the proper way to address this issue?
Thanks.

You didn't say that you were using a GM throttle cable. What you need to do is to get slack out of the cable. This can be done by elongating the bolt holes that hold the cable bracket to the throttle body to move the cable tight. Then look down the throttle body (engine off of course) and have an assistant floor the pedal. Then you can determine if the throttle blades are opening full.

I'm using the Fierostore cable.
A second one actually since the previous one snapped.
I'll check to see if what you're saying is doable and get back to you. Thanks.

You can also reuse the cable housing and just replace the inner cable by buying generic straight cable by the foot (in the same size as the OEM cable) and use an assortment of attachment ends sold at building supply stores. i have no idea how you would snap a new throttle cable as they are pretty strong.------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite.
