Is the jack unique to the Fiero? Or will other GM ones fit plug and play? (Page 1/1) |

Hello,
Just like the topic says.
I stripped the thread while jacking up the car and I need a new jack. Can't find one locally and shipping from USA isn't worth it. Do any other GM jacks fit in the front trunk? Or is it Fiero specific?

Yes, GM 10030932 scissor jack is unique to the Fiero
GM Interchangeable P/Ns 10021488 10023294 14076683 14076684 14076687 14076688 14076690
But a jack is a jack; other jacks will raise the car, but they won't fit in the jack stow bracket in the front hood.

Perhaps there is a GM jack from another car that is the same with the exception of the location of the mounting bolt.
If so, that could be remedied.

It's worthwhile mentioning that '84 jacks (and I believe also their storage mount) is different than the later years.

When I put a jack in the Fiero for long trips, I use a jack from a 1997 full side chevy 4x4 silverado. It lifts higher an was designed to lift a truck much, much heavier than the Fiero. It doesn't fit in the bracket, so I just place it n the spare tire tub. I have since trimmed down the bracket so it just supports the washer tank and no longer has the jack support portion.

As mentioned, the 1st jack / stow bracket design is different than the 2nd design....
GM 10030932 scissor jack is the later model...
Unfortunately, the 1984-88 Pontiac 'P' Parts and Illustration Catalog show different jacks with the same GM part number....

Does anyone know the 'real' 1st jack design GM part number? ------------------ Original Owner of a Silver '88 GT Under 'Production Refurbishment' @ 136k Miles

I used my Fiero for camping- a lot- from 1985 to 1997.....I made a camping cabinet that fit on top of the spare tire...But had to move the jack because it sticks right out into the middle of the front trunk...I would wrap a towel around it, then place it in front of the master cylinder.
One of those other jacks- even though it won't attach to the Fiero bracket- may be able to sit in that position in front of the MC....
Here is a pic of the situation;
