Brakes (Page 1/2)

Just some brake info. I had the bigger brake booster installed with Rodney Dickmans banjo. Initially it worked fine, but after a couple hundred miles the brakes acted up. It's like they were no longer power brakes. They worked, but the pedal was stiff, and slow to release. I took it to my mechanic and he thought it had to do with the small shaft between the new booster and the master. Nothing worked. So, he started thinking a vacuum issue. He pulled off the hose and shot some air into the hose. He said the air should only flow one way. Anyhow, at that point he put the hose back on and the brakes worked normally. I don't know exactly what the issue was, but this might help someone with a similar problem.

Perhaps the Power Brake Booster Check Valve was 'stuck'? {ACDelco 179-1266}

Thanks for your response. If it happens again, that's the first place I'll look.

Does that part number apply to all years? Mine is an 88'

Thanks so much. I'm going to replace mine, just in case. It looks easy enough for even me to do

Update, I replaced the check valve with the part number you provided. It fit the slightly larger S-10 brake booster perfectly. Thanks so much for your response. It's fixed because of you😊

I would be more than happy too, but I'm not familiar with doing so. I looked all over and can't find where to do it. Can you point me in the right direction?
