3800 AC Lines (Page 1/1)

My 380SC Formula is a Wisconsin car, and they don't really need AC up there so my car doesn't have a compressor or lines right now, but it has everything else. It's a lot hotter down in NC and we have 90%+ humidity most days and AC is nearly essential during the summer so I would like that working. It looks like everyone who made AC lines does not anymore, but it appears WCF does have a kit. How are those? Anyone have first hand experience?

Check with local radiator repair, RV shops and AC shops , they can most likely crimp AC lines. You would be surprised who can make them if you just ask. Heck my Local Napa store can crimp AC and Hydraulic hoses...

The AC lines are easy to make, really just need the Fiero Chassis end and the 3800 compressor end. Just mount each end at their respective positions in the car and measure the distance between, add a curve, don't make them straight as a lil extra in a slight arch. That will allow some adjustment and allow for any engine movement. You will need to add the pressure switch in the High side.

Make sure you get the clocking / rotation of the ends correct before crimping.

Your harness hopefully has the pressure switch connector in it, there's no reason for one to remove that 2 wire connector even if it's a no AC car. Also check to see if the AC is enabled in the PCM programming.

When I supply both hard ends and the pressure switch port, they only charge me about 100 canadian to supply new barrier hose and crimps

When I was doing 3800SC Swaps we purchased bulk A/C hoses (#8 and #10) , the ferrules, the O rings and a ferrule clamping set. We braze welded the high side switch 10mm port to the high side hose fitting at the firewall manifold. We used the Grand Prix high side sensor. This was to get a pressure monitoring control signal to the PCM. Most of the job is just cutting measuring hose and crimping the fittings on.
If you don't wish to braze weld I have seen crimp on hose fittings that add the 10mm port for the switch to the high side line but haven't seen them of late.
