how does the trunk fan duct come out? (Page 1/1)

so before i go and break something else ....

need to get the plastic duct out of the trunk.
i think the studs that attach the aluminium tubes also hold the duct in place.
those studs are now full and completely stuck to the trunk sheet metal.
looks like aluminium corrosion welding has struck again.

so shout out your thoughts

Ugh, I can't seem to remember, and I don't have one in front of me that I can look at... but I recall that it was attached a couple of different ways. There was a tree clip and also aluminum studs. If the studs are all jacked up, I usually take a wire brush attachment to a power drill to clean them up. Then, I hit it with a little PB Blaster and the nuts should come off.

You need to pull the carpet back to start with. The nuts that hold the duck in place actually go thru the wall into the engine bay. Its all pretty straight forward once you get a good look at it. I beleive there was a black paste/glue to seal it up so it will fight you getting it out.
