Fiero Rear Trunk Lamp Installation Tips (Page 1/1)
Romsk AUG 10, 07:42 PM
I designed my own replacement rear trunk lamp with LED and Switch.
I just sold my first 3 on E-Bay today. The locking tab on the original lens and on my lens is susceptible to breaking in cool weather because the plastic is brittle in cooler weather. My design has a smaller locking tab that is more flexible but it still can break if you are not careful.
I made a video that shows the techniques that I used that can be used on either lamp assembly. So, if you have an original lamp, you may find these techniques helpful.

Great product. Had I not already altered my trunk light to use a small COB LED multi light panel I would go this route.

I'm In; my trunk bulb and lens has been out for four years as I rejuvenate my '88...

Paul:
measure your Fiero Trunk Lamp Hole for proper fit before ordering this Lamp assembly.

Hole Size:
Width: 2.17 inches
Height: 1.15 inches

The 2.17" width is 'right on the money' however my factory height is 1.2"

I believe that your lens will cover the 0.05" difference...yes?

BTW - I think you should post *this* in 'TheMall'

Dennis and Vintage-Nut,

Thanks for the feedback.

I will update my webpage to reflect the 0.050 difference in the vertical direction. If the hole in the Fiero is a few 1000ths smaller top to bottom, the walls in the lens can be sanded slightly as I made them thicker than the original.

I designed an adapter plate for those that made their holes bigger. Email me and we can collaborate so I can tell you how to make one or I can make one for you. It's essentially a thin sheet of stainless steel with a hole for the lamp and 4 mounting holes.

Vintage-Nut,

I sent you a email response, but Google says it is not replying... did you get my email asking tor your zip code?
Vintage-Nut AUG 11, 05:05 PM
Yes, you responded an hour ago:
"Special Introductory Offer on Aug 10th of $16.00 USD Plus Shipping is Expired..."

You have my zip code, thanks.

I installed the new lamp I got from your ebay sale yesterday and it fit perfectly and works great! The only issue is that my ground wire from the connector to the trunk latch must be broken as it never actually finds ground. Having an on/off switch on the light itself means that's not really a problem so I simply connected a new ground wire and just turn it on manually when I open the trunk.
