See title. Got cruise working in a Fiero for the first time ever and when I must the wipers cruise stays on, but as soon as I switch to intermittent then the cruise turns off. Is that normal or am I needing a new cruise control stalk? Thanks!

It's more likely the multifunction switch inside the steering column.

+1 on a bad switch.
Replacing the switch isn't too terrible. You do need to pull the steering wheel, but once that is done, it's relatively easy.

Thank you, gentlemen. I need a new stalk anyway. The one I have is faded.

Wait. Is the stalk different from the switch?

Yep. Kinda-sorta. The stalk moves the switch for the turn signal. There are PBs and slide switches in the stalk and those could be bad.
You out try to spray electrical contact cleaner and cycle the switches before changing the stalk. It may just be dirty contacts.
