I swapped in a new crossmember, but my fiero store brackets have a large gap between them. I used thick washer to fill the gap, but im wondering if something else is going on.
Gap between bracket and upper part of crossmember

The old crossmember has slightly different hole cutouts, but dont think there are any major differences between them.
Old cross member

Replacement crossmember
Has anyone else had this issue?

The bracket you're using to attach the cross-member to the frame does not look factory.
Here is the bracket on my 1987 Fiero:

What you're using there seems to have been custom made. Not a huge problem, but likely the reason why it's not mounting properly. This bracket tends to rust heavily, which is probably why they were replaced on your car.
