Since my fiero did not come with power locks I was looking around for the parts to install them and I found this kit I'm really drawn by the idea of keyless entry has anyone tried this does it work good?

Doing that conversion now. The trick is to mount the door lock actuator so it pulls in a relatively straight line with the lock rod. You will need to fabricate a bracket. This is not a "plug and play" install but not real hard to do. [This message has been edited by Dennis LaGrua (edited 07-04-2025).]

If you have an alarm system, you can just get the door lock kit separately like I did. Will post some pics later.

So... a couple of thoughts...
I installed a "keyless entry" system on my Fiero many years ago. But, my Fiero already had power door locks installed. Or... I should say, many years ago I pulled the harness, switches, etc., and installed it in my Fiero. But THAT keyless entry system (the kind you used to get from JC Whitney) would use all your existing stuff, and just unlock or lock based on the key fob. The problem with those old systems is that they were so easy to hack that by the mid 2000s they basically became dangerous.
The one you have appears to use a much newer system (the newer GM keyless system), and it also appears to be designed for a car that does not already come with power door locks (since yours is including the actuator). This one is likely much safer than the older ones (harder to hack if it has a rolling code, etc.), and basically ads power door locks to a car that didn't previously have one. All of that said, if you don't already have power door locks, you won't get the cool switches by the door handle... but you can always just unlock it from the key fob.

this may work out well for me.i found out while oiling the door components that my key doesn't fit the drivers door.it does fit the engine cover and passenger door.the locks on these cars are a bear to change.maybe i could use this to unlock the doors with the passenger door lock as a back up.
