1994 3.4 OHV power steering (Page 1/1)

I recently picked up a 3.4 pushrod out of a 1994 Camaro, since it’s the easiest swap and in college I only really have summers to rebuild and swap this engine. I’m not looking to make crazy power but I’d like to make it pretty quick. That being said, I haven’t really been able to find what people do with the power steering pump on the 3.4. Do I delete it and put in an idler pulley? Disconnect all lines and leave the pump to just spin freely? (i feel like it could seize and cause problems this way)
Oh yeah for context it’s going into an 86 GT with the 2.8 V6 and 4 speed stick.

The "easy 3.4 swap" just uses all parts from the Fiero 2.8 except the block and rotating assembly. 2.8 timing cover, water pump, alternator, harmonic balancer, belt, heads, intakes, exhaust, engine mounts, etc, etc.

So I’d strip the entire belt assembly and bolt up the 2.8 setup?

The 3.4L P/R engine is certainly an improvement over the 2.8L. Its a good first swap as its easy nearly bolt on. Yes you delete the power steering and just go with the front drive on the 2,8L I More pep and power but "pretty quick" is a subjective question depending on what you are comparing it to. We've seen those Fiero 160 HP swaps go hig 14's in the 1/4 mile But there are many variables to consider.
