Underdash pic request (Page 1/1)

Can someone with a 2.8/5spd car take a pic of the switches under the driver's side of the dash and post it? The previous owners of my car have bypassed stuff and I don't know what goes where. I'd like to get the cruise control working again.

Hello!

To be clear you're looking for the brake pedal and clutch emergency cutoff switches for the brake lights/cruise?

I hate to post this... because I don't know if it's totally correct.

This is on my 87 Fiero SE / V6, which I converted to a manual transmission. It was originally an automatic, and I swapped out the brake pedal, and then also attached the clutch pedal, etc.

Would really appreciate someone else posting theirs too for what would be correct. Mine has cruise control, and I "think" I'm missing the cruise safety-switch on the clutch pedal...

We're in the same boat. I swapped mine over a decade ago and mine looks pretty much like yours. I don't have the cruse connected because I don't know how to do the electronic cruise swap with the 3800 however I also do not have a cruise switch on my clutch pedal. Over the past 15 years when I come across a parts Fiero the first thing I check is for the clutch switch and to this day I have never actually seen one in a Fiero.

My car is in storage right now... where it's been sitting for like 14 years (last checked on it last year and it was still perfect).

I plan to go through the service manual and replicate basically what the car already has now. The only thing I can add to this is that those emergency brake and clutch switches are all still available on Rock Auto. It's hard to find them... but I usually have to use the search bar. They also sell the connectors, so you can wire it in.

If you have an automatic... it seems to me that the likely thing is to basically replicate the cruise safety switch that you currently have on your brake, and do the same thing (in circuit) on the clutch pedal.

The only thing I don't think you and I have... is the neutral safety switch. That is... we have to depress the clutch before we start the car. That seems to be missing from mine, and from yours.

I'm thinking that the two of you need to see these wiring diagrams.......

This first diagram shows what's happening with the pedal harnesses.
Note that they call out the difference between the manual and automatic circuits.

The following picture should be helpful as well.

Thanks Old Joe... that's from the service manual right? I'd planned to look at it eventually... but with my car in storage it hasn't been a priority... but based on your images, it looks like I'm missing the cruise clutch switch... or, I may also have them in the wrong spot. But this is good information.
