Anyone have any leads on a replacement upper control arm cross shaft for an 88? I'm in the middle of doing ball joints and noticed on the drivers side that the nuts on the end of the cross shaft were loose. Lubed them up with wd40 and gently tried to rotate them back and forth. The rear one behaved and let me tighten it up. Not so lucky on the front one, it broke the cross shaft flush with the end/outer side of the bushing. Can't seem to find any replacements. Checked Rodney's and the fierostore's web sites and they are not listed. There is a guy selling the left front arm on ebay. Probably would come with the shaft.
Anybody have any other leads or suggestions?
Thanks!
Brian

you could repair it? i would probably get it all apart and take it to a machine shop (or do it myself) and have a peice welded on and threads cut into it to replicate the end that is supposed to be there.

Carter,
Yea, might have to do that. I have full access to a machine shop and can weld.
About a year and a half ago there was an 88 at my local pullapart. Got lots of stuff off of it but didn't get these. They will definitely put these on my list though.
Thanks for the reply.

I know zero about 88's but has anyone ever tried to fit a shaft from another vehicle of that era? This one is listed for an S-10 and is $28. https://shorturl.at/PFUIa
These are the vehicles it fits from Pontiac:

I've gotten 88 suspension parts from Mike Valentine of The Fiero Factory.

Also "available" at autozone (out of stock but it is in their catalog).
I cant seem to find, but there is also a separate part number for JUST the control arm shaft without the bushings.

FYI - GM didn't get a part number to the shaft, and it came only in the arm assy......

Thanks for all the great info and suggestions! I'll either get that one on ebay or repair or fabricate my own.
