Per this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...130314-2-116662.html
And these diagrams:

The VO8 option included a two speed fan.
Per this page: https://www.fierofocus.com/...ils/OptionCodes.html VO8 is simply "Heavy Duty Cooling"
Has anyone ever actually seen a car with this option in the wild?
From somewhere I thought it was 1988 only. Is that accurate? Was it available all years? Was it 1984 only?
I have a paper 1988 shop manual. It includes wiring for the electro-hydraulic power steering, but does NOT include wiring for the VO8 two speed fan.[This message has been edited by Will (edited 04-19-2025).]

To my knowledge, it was an 84 item only.

Which was designed but only installed a few '88's, but it lives on in another GM car, the EV-1...
The 'gold question' is if it would be possible to get a hold of one of these units from the EV-1, and put it on a '88 Fiero, since the '88's has the provisions for the unit?

i thought it was infinitely more popular to do a steering column mounted power steering now? as the the ev1 stuff its really really hard to get. i think a jet city member got one of those racks but i forget if he ever did anything with it

I think I have a 84 2 speed fan in my basement.
I never understood the point of it. You are just wasting electricity by turning in to heat in the resistor. just run the fan at full speed.

Exactly... was a dumb idea.
Later GM cars produce two fan speeds by having two fans. GM uses three relays to switch between running the two motors in series vs parallel.
Of course the Fiero only has one fan.
