3100 buick PCM manual swap (Page 1/1)

I was initially keeping a fiero computer and planning on just making the car think it’s in park so i didn’t have to redo the harness…but I’m now using a engine/harness/computer from a 2002 Buick Century. I’m not completely sure how to deal with this issue.

Is this something that *has* to be programmed out of the computer? Or is there a way for me to wire something up myself? Same question about VATs actually, I know for earlier models pre 2000 you could just wire in a resistor that matches the one on the key. I assume that still applies.

I was going to post this on the 60degreev6 forum but I had trouble with the website.

First off what engine are you using with that computer that you intend to use. Is this this for the Fiero 2.8L engine or an engine swap. If this ECM is to control a 3100 Buick engine then you will need the original harness rewire it accordingly and combine it into the existing Fiero wiring harness, Then you will need to reprogram the ECM by changing the chip program by re-writing the code to suit the engine and your Fiero. You will need an editing program to do this and a programmer.
